EUSSR support hits new low in Frogland as almost 1/3 of Krouts say negatives outweigh benefits.......We could have told them that 40 years ago.
As the continent gears up for European elections in June 2024, recent data has dealt a devastating blow to the EUSSR. A study has revealed that a mere 36 percent of the French hold a favourable impression of the European Parliament, significantly lower than the EUSSR average of 56 percent. In fact, the French rank among the most disenchanted populations in Europe, alongside the Greeks, Cypriots, and Slovaks. According to a survey conducted by Eurobarometer, only 40 percent of French people expressed any interest in the upcoming elections at this early stage. This disengagement places France among the countries with the lowest rates of interest in the European Union.
These findings shed light on the considerable challenges faced by European institutions in gaining public trust and support.

Notably, the French also harbour one of the poorest images of the EUSSR overall. Merely 35 percent of the French consider their country's EUSSR membership a positive thing, while a mere 15 percent view it negatively. In contrast, a significant majority of 72 percent of the Irish populace perceives EU membership as a beneficial aspect.
Moreover, the French lag behind in staying informed about current events at the European Parliament. Only 39 percent of respondents claimed to have come across information about the European Parliament in the press, making it the lowest rate in the EUSSR.

I lived there for six years. albeit in SW rural France. I never met any French who had any love for the EU or the euro, quite the opposite in fact. Those who love the EU are like those in Britain, the politicians, not the people.

EUSSR warns against adjusting Mercosur trade deal BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The EUSSR Commission said on Wednesday it would be unwise to renegotiate parts of its proposed free trade agreement with Brazil and other countries of the Mercosur bloc, given it took two decades to reach an initial deal. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said last week his country would not sign the trade pact without adjustments, specifically pointing to his government's opposition to allowing EUSSR companies to sell to Brazil's public sector. EUSSR trade chief Valdis Dombrovskis said on Wednesday that there had been comments suggesting adjustments from both sides. "The Commission's general advice is not to reopen the agreement. It has been negotiated for a very long time," he told a news conference to unveil the EUSSR's planned revamp of its ties with Latin America and the Caribbean. "It strikes a carefully crafted economic balance, so if we now reopen, upset this economic balance, this may lead again to long negotiations with uncertain outcomes," he continued.

Brazil is a massive country, both area and with a population over 210 million has a big economic sway in South America, perhaps the greatest. The EU intransigence might not work with Brazil. They may have to renegotiate or there will be no deal. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Those who love the EU are like those in Britain, the politicians, not the people. My son says the same, he lives in Gard in the south of France. He tells me no one has anything good to say about Macron or the EU. His wife is from Lyon and her family are equally scathing of the EU.

Turned out nice again......Greate weather here and great news.... Eurozone economy plummets into a recession with Kroutland now the 'problem child' The eurozone plummeted into a recession at the start of the year, according to latest data, which has signalled a loss of growth in the single currency area. This has seen Germany being branded the "problem child" according to an economic analysis company. The eurozone GDP shrank by 0.1 percent over the first three months of 2023 compared with the previous quarter, according to the figures from Eurostat, the EUSSR's statistics agency. GDP was also revised for the last quarter of 2022, falling to -0.1 percent from 0 percent previously forecast. This newly published data is a downward revision on previous estimates released in April that showed growth of 0.1 percent in the eurozone for first quarter of the year. These were corrected downward following German data showing the country contracted for a second consecutive quarter - slipping into a recession
