It's as if western governments are attempting to outdo one another on who can come up with the 'greenest' policies, regardless of their effect on the electorate. It's worrying, left wing lunatics seem to be infecting every facet of politics, not just in the EU but here in the UK too. As I posted elswhere, thanks to green levies food will cost more from next year. I wonder how much longer the vast majority of people will passively sit back and struggle with this net zero nonsense.

Good job we have agreed a trade deal with Australia to get more of their beef to replace Irish.. My initial thoughts, but after reading the article it was dairy cows that are being slaughtered. Still, at least Monte will be happy being pale.

Good job we have agreed a trade deal with Australia to get more of their beef to replace Irish.. My daughter is in NZ and posted a protest thier on FB as NZ are looking to do the same. It is now like something out of LOTR, 'the age of man is over, now is the time for the plant people.'

Good job we have agreed a trade deal with Australia to get more of their beef to replace Irish.. Well the Australian beef will certainly be of better quality than the culled dairy herds that we see on our supermarket shelves as 'Irish Beef' . Pretty low grade (tough as old boots) from my own experiance and best avoided . Trouble for the Irish is going to be having culled the dairy herds in the name of net zero they are going to have to find suppliers of dairy products from overseas . This really stinks of the EU making stuff up as they go along just for the sake of making stuff up . The Dutch are already protesting after simlar proposals

The dutch government are still progressing with plans to close down 1/3 of their agricultural sector?
Is it just European governments engaging in long term, deliberate attempts to starve their populations into submission?

It is because for a long time the cost of keeping dairy cows has not been covered by the retail price of milk or milk products. The cost of the fertilizer that feeds the grass that feeds the cows has risen too high. It is cheapwr to reduce national herds and trade milk between member states.
Simples.

That looks like a misunderstanding -
Type - "why are the irish government killing 200000 cows?" into google

Typical thick micks culled all the badgers and then found out it was the cattle giving TB to the badgers and not the reverse. I wonder how the micks got the name of the thick Irish?
