It’s being done by stealth over my way . No banks in the nearest village . 3 cash machines taken out in the last 3 months and two hardly working over the last two months. No cash back in Tescos either .

Which means they’re going to do it,anybody knew this was up for discussion which ends in a few days? whatever they say they want to ditch cash and control every part of peoples lives.. www.bankofengland.co.uk/the-digital-poundI knew about it. It seemed to me like an utterly pointless waste of time and money. isn't the money in ones bank account already essentially 'digital pounds' What on earth would the point be in converting the digital pounds in ones bank account into a 'digital pound' to transfer to a digital wallet in order to make payments. Surely all one needs to do is add their debit / credit cards to a digital wallet if one wants to make payments via an app rather than presenting a physical card. If someone can't get a normal debit or credit card because of their credit history then they can already get prepaid cards they can top up, there is no reason why they can't be added to a digital wallet rather than using the physical card. What value is it adding. just seems a completely pointless exercise to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

There’s more than old people not able to use it,there are people with learning disabilities won’t either, who cares.? Not you it seems or the BOE. If you’re not sure what II means? Then you could be in for an unpleasant surprise.

I still don't see the problem....??

Oh so you assume people have to have minders when for years now they’ve been trying to promote their independence, don’t want to be rude but do you know any people with learning disabilities?

Are these people with "learning disabilities" capable of going out and working for a living but become quivering heaps of jelly when it comes to....I don't know...placing a card on a card reader?
But then again I assume that the Bank of England working group may just...probably...well more than likely.....actually include people with learning disabilities that will be able to add values to their deliberations about how people with "learning disabilities" may be able to spend their cash....whaddya think....?

What do I think? Clearly you don’t know anyone with a learning disability.

No cash back in Tescos either . Lloyds to close 53 more branches as customers make the move to online banking in yet another blow for the high street
Lloyds has announced the closure of 53 more branches in the latest blow to the high street.
It takes the number of branches that have been shut or earmarked for closure so far this year across the industry to more than 500.
The new announcement means 21 Lloyds Bank, 15 Halifax and 17 Bank of Scotland sites will go between September this year and May 2024.
Like other lenders, Lloyds says it is closing branches because customers are increasingly opting for online banking.
However, campaigners argue that elderly and vulnerable account holders – some of whom struggle to use internet or app-based platforms – are being abandoned. That has been exacerbated by a sharp fall in the number of free-to-use cash machines.
Lloyds said the latest 53 branches set for closure had seen their usage fall by an average
55 per cent in the last five years

What do I think? Clearly you don’t know anyone with a learning disability...I know I already said that...??....and who cares anyway this isn't happening until we're all long dead. Darwinism, people will be brought up on the system before there is any meaningful change over...so don't fret about these "learning difficulty" people going into meltdown mode when presented with a bill for services rendered...
Look before your mind goes somersaulting off into complete turmoil over this do you not think that the issue is more to do with data.....you know that elusive electronic signature and the meta data that would be involved with private companies holding your digital cash....that dystopian rabbit hole of the CIA tracking you and Illuminatti popping out of USB devices and inveigling themselves into you pound digit thingy...digital pound...or whatever the fuck its called....shivery quivery stuff like that....there must be a good conspiracy theory thread somewhere on this....
HOLY FUCK.... I do know someone with a learning difficulty my niece...she's got dyslexia and works at NatWest.....oh the fucking irony....

I was going to post this to give some idea of the the great number and variance of skills or lack thereof that these vulnerable people have. I just don't see there being anything worse than what we have now and with the time frames in involved and the current level of awareness regarding disadvantaged people I can't see there being that much of an issue in that regard. The area I see being causing the must huffing and puffing is the actual data and data security...to be honest I really don't give a crap as I'll be dead when this rolls out....
