606,000 net migration in 2022,
That means 1.2 million people moved to the UK in 2022 and 557,000 emigrated.
More than double the number of the last 'normal' ie pre-Covid year, 2019.
The usual caveat applies: net migration includes the comings and goings of British citizens so net foreign migration is likely to be much higher, perhaps by as much as 100,000.

David Cameron ... "we will bring immigration numbers down to tens of thousands"
Theresa May ... "immigration is too high and its a priority"
Boris Johnson ... "I pledge to bring immigration to below 245,000"
Rishi Sunak ... "I agree with Boris"
Suella Braverman ... "Brexit will mean that we can control our borders and bring down immigration"
Yet the right wing nut-jobs on here repeatedly tell us that its all Labours fault, and in particular Tony Blair, who did nothing except stick to the FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT rules as agreed and signed up to by John Major.

Strange how THEY still continue to blame a government which has not been in power now for 13 years, and yet under a Conservative government we have record levels of immigration. Highest number of immigration into the UK on record .... and its still Labours fault

I actually think the Tories actually did a reasonable job of expectation management here, better than they did with the local elections. I'd ask the following question to our resident immigrant haters on here : which is the bigger issue for the government to sort? A) Illegal migration at 40,000 B) Legal migration at 600,000

606,000 net migration in 2022, In theory that number should reduce rapidly next year as 250,000 to 300,000 is made up of Ukrainians and Hong Kong Chinese who will not impact the figures in subsequent years. I say in theory, because as it looks likely Labour will form the next government they have already said they will increase legal (and illegal) immigration.

When the number of immigrants exceeds the number of threads about them on this forum, the country will really be in trouble.

So can 'illegal' migration but the government does not want that they want to give the loony's a focus point.

They have never said they will increase 'illegal' migration you are making things up again. Labour will stop the practice used by the Tories of 'allowing' businesses to pay 20% below the going rate to foreign workers.
