Yes so did I , FFS they could not even get rid of mixed wards as they promised to do things did not getter better, which was Blairs Anthem at the time Rubbish. That I am no fan of New Labour is well known around here. I am not going to be voting Labour in the next election and did not vote Labour in 2005 or 2010. But I cannot but challenge such an ignorant lie. True, many things that should have gotten better didn't, and I am particularly thinking of housing when I say that. But that is mostly due to them choosing to continue with Tory housing policies. And bad things were done, most obviously the Iraq War. But quite a lot of things self evidently did get better. Greatly reduced NHS waiting lists, reduced class sizes, the introduction of a minimum wage, the working time directive, peace in Northern Ireland, Bank of England independence, the prevention of genocide in Kosovo, Sure Start centres, and ten years of economic growth unmatched in any of the past 13. Devolution for Scotland and Wales, the minimum income guarantee, free local bus travel and winter fuel payments for pensioners. Working tax credits for many low paid working people. A big expansion of higher education. Quite a lot of things did get better after 1997. So in your Logic anyone who has a different opinion to you is a liar I was hospitalized twice when Blair the Warmonger was in No 10 , I did not like it one bit I was off work for three months waiting for a simple operation, on the first occasion delay after delay, the second time was injuries sustained at work again delay after delay, my wife who now has been a Nurse for fast approaching 29 years she left the NHS shortly afterwards as she could not stand the incompetence and how inefficiently it was run patients not turning up, arriving late for operations staff shortages etc, That is when we took out Medical Insurance Cover and never regretted it, wife went to work in a Private Hospital Operating Theatre instead, hard work but better conditions run very efficiently most of the staff she has worked with over the years had also left the NHS for the same reasons, even a few of the Consultant Surgeons, again for the same reasons I was admitted to our local Hospital about 8 years ago under a different Government on the hurry up collapsed at home after work , long story shortened Kidney Stones never felt pain like it, I was transferred to another hospital later that night as my local hospital does not have a Renal Unit, ended up in the Royal Free the ward was filthy as were the toilets, everything was old and needed total renovation, in the morning prepped for theatre woke up back in the ward sorry we did not have time to go in a get them. OK no problem when can it be done roughly 3 months time was the reply we will try and fit you in then if possible, we will give you strong pain killers but you can't drive , you can't go back to work until we take them out, take things easy, the stones are so big they will not come out on their own. Soon as we got home referral letter from my GP fee of £20 within 10 days of contacting our Medical Insurance , job done went back to work, now I am retired but still keeping the Insurance in place Today it matters not which Government is in power the NHS cannot cope with the demand on it the population has increased significantly since 1997 and Blair the War Monger openly encouraged migrants from Asia most unskilled to come here and they did in large numbers with large families, he added to the NHS problems and housing The NHS needs to be run more efficiently all the way round it is time the we Taxpayers got value for our money, depending where you live its a post code lottery as some NHS Trusts are run better than others simply throwing more and more money year after year at it will not solve its problems.

Shall I tell you something, we might have a Tory government but in case you haven't noticed we have Labour run councils, the NHS are public servants, and most of them are still there from Labours time in office, and like the civil service most of the loony lefties are still there from the Labour era. Is it any wonder it's fucked up, a Tory government being run by the loony left, they want to sabotage public services, including the NHS so they can blame the Tories, but of course you couldn't put 2+2 together even if you had a calculator. Councils dont run the NHS. The government does. And for the last 13 years that means the Tories. Not in Wales or Scotland...how are they doing?

Revealed: The report that shows Labour can't be trusted to run the NHS... How corrupt bosses at Wales's biggest public body faked documents and misled auditors to cover up millions in reckless spending
And that's not the worst one.

But they dont decide on most funding issues and lack the power to enact structural reform so are still very much beholden to whomever is in control in Westminster.

"Blair the Warmonger" do try and be a little more mature in future. "That is when we took out Medical Insurance Cover and never regretted it, wife went to work in a Private Hospital Operating Theatre instead, hard work but better conditions run very efficiently most of the staff she has worked with over the years had also left the NHS for the same reasons, even a few of the Consultant Surgeons, again for the same reasons".
Thatcher almost destroyed the NHS a decade before New Labour come to office, she even began to offer financial incentives for people to go private. That was when the NHS was at its worst which you apparently do not take into account. Blair set out to increase health funding up to half the average costs in use by other countries. The NHS was in good condition when Blair left office. I think it is reasonable to presume you were a victim of Thatcher's damage. In 2010 the Tories put out a directive for cutting NHS funding by 25%, the average annual top up fell from 3.7% to 1.5%. IMO the NHS will never win under the Tories because they are ideologically opposed to it. "The NHS needs to be run more efficiently all the way round it is time the we Taxpayers got value for our money, depending where you live its a post code lottery as some NHS Trusts are run better than others simply throwing more and more money year after year at it will not solve its problems". Starmer is in full agreement with this ^^^

In 2010 the Tories put out a directive for cutting NHS funding by 25%, Got a link to this directive as I struggle to believe that any party would contemplate cutting funding by 25%. As the NHS budget has seen a real terms increase every year since 2010 then this claim seems all the more unlikely.

Labour ran the NHS in England for 13 years from 1997 to 2010, it was the last time that Labour were overlords of the NHS in England. During that time the NHS improved immensely, hundreds of hospitals or departments were refurbished and modernised, thousands of extra doctors and nurses were employed. Waiting lists dropped dramatically, waiting times also fell dramatically. The NHS in England began to deteriorate in 2011, one year after the Tories took over, and eight years before anyone had ever heard of Covid19. The NHS in England continued to deteriorate, waiting lists rose, waiting times rose, ambulance response times rose, and the time waiting to see a GP rose. and the venture capitalists funding the PFI deals that paid for it have celebrated every day since.

I’d believe that, were it not for the fact Rhodri Morgan made the same pathetic whingeing noise every day from 1999 to 2010 when the English Parliament was run by Blair and Brown.
