Two separate articles; one common theme: How to deal with Brexit damage.
Ellwood: Johnson's Brexit is damaging the economy. It is economically sub-optimal. It costs us £40B a year. This is not the Brexit we envisaged. Let's renegotiate in 2025
Frost : Yes -- as an implied agreement -- Johnson's Brexit is damaging the economy, so we should reduce our own trade barriers. But Keith Starmer's pledge to lower cross-continent (UK/EU) trade barriers will make us rule takers.
One is progressive and pragmatic with its objectives. The other fundamentalist and dogmatic with its its ideals.

Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal is damaging the economy, senior Tory warns
Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal is damaging the economy and must be renegotiated in the wake of dire warnings of the impact of leaving the EU from business leaders, senior Tories have insisted.
A growing number of car manufacturers have urged Rishi Sunak this week to try and reopen the Trade and Cooperation Agreement signed with Brussels in 2020.... It comes after the food industry warned that the new terms agreed under the recently negotiated Windsor Framework would lead to consumers paying more in supermarkets due to more onerous food labelling costs.
Tobias Ellwood told i: “We are learning the hard way that our model of Brexit is economically sub-optimal. Our Brexit deal is soon up for formal review. As Nigel Farage claims Brexit is Broken. Most might agree – this is not the ‘Brexit’ we envisaged. Costing us £40bn a year, we can do better."

Keir Starmer to make Brexit Britain follow EU rules ‘without any say’ as Labour leader vows to relax trade barriers
Sir Keir Starmer’s pledge to relax cross-continent trade barriers would make Brexit Britain follow European Union rules “without any say”, leading Eurosceptics have warned.
The Leader of the Opposition hopes to lower trade barriers with the EU within 18 months of entering Downing Street if the Labour Party manages to win the next general election. Starmer also wants to hold regular summits attended by both UK and EU ministers and sets his sights on a new security pact with Brussels.
Lord David Frost said: “We can reduce our own trade barriers to the EU now, and should. Whether the EU will reduce theirs to us, that will only happen if all the UK follows EU rules without any say in setting them.
