Boris Johnson called Emmanuel Macron 'a weirdo', 'Putin's lickspittle' and 'a four-letter word beginning with C' in fury at French criticism of Britain over Ukraine war, his former aide claims.
Boris Johnson described French president Emmanuel Macron as 'a weirdo' and 'Putin's lickspittle' after the pair clashed following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, an ex-Downing Street aide has claimed.
Guto Harri, No 10's former director of communications, said his then-boss called Mr Macron 'a four-letter word beginning with C' and threatened 'an orgy of frog-bashing' in a furious outburst caused by French criticism of the UK's handling of the Ukrainian refugee crisis.
Mr Harri said Mr Johnson and his French counterpart 'patched it up' weeks later, but that Mr Macron's initial comments at an EU summit in Versailles in the early days of the war that Ukrainians were made to feel 'unwelcome' in Britain caused Mr Johnson to 'flip'.
And he recalled intimate exchanges between Mr Johnson and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky in which the pair referred to each other as a 'hero'.
It is understood Mr Johnson disputes the allegations, revealed in the latest episode of Mr Harri's Unprecedented podcast for Global Player.

My experience of French males I've met here in Britain is that they often have a peculiar Anglo phobic attitude towards us. We have our Commonwealth of friendly former colonies whereas their imperial ambitions didn't work out so well for them.

The French response to the illegal invasion was to try and get the Ukrainians to do a "deal" with Putin.
How can you do a deal with someone who wants to kill you?
Ukraine need our support to survive.
Macron would have sold them out the way Chamberlain sold out Czechoslovakia.

Johnson's selection as Tory leader by the party's members was announced in July 2019, he led the party to election victory in December 2019, and resigned in July 2022 following his cabinet's revolt. Johnson out after 41 months, Macron currently in power after 72 months, and still counting. Johnson is 24 years older than his wife. Macron's wife is 24 years older than him. Macron has no children. Johnson possibly has eight...
