Great I thought,waste of space extra layer of bureaucracy providing jobs for politicians gone,except they’re creating more mayors (nightmares) so they can fight each other for whose in charge. I have always opposed Police & Crime Commissioners for the simple reason that far too much power is placed into the hands of one single politician.
The system we had was better, a pannel or committee of councillors from different political parties known as "Police Authorities", and where each authority appointed a chairman.
The Tories ideas on super mayors and metro mayors, and on recent local government reorganisation can only be described as a mess.

Mr Turner is a close political friend of one of Britains most prominent Mayors "Ben Houchen" |

Last time I went to vote I wrote something like "WASTE OF OUR MONEY" on the ballot paper, which pretty much says it all. |
