Breaking news.
It's just been revealed by the prime ministers press secretary that a future Conservative government may be willing to enter into coalition with the DUP. I suspect that's less of a surprise than some people may think.

The Tories already bribed the DUP with £1 billion, and re-registered the national identifier from GB to UK in order to look more inclusive to loyalists — and the DUP does have a few MPs in Westminster — so no real surprise at the idea...

I think that we can guess what the demands from the DUP may be, that would then bring us back into dispute with the EU over whatever deal is in place at the time. I simply can't see how this highly unsatisfactory situation regarding the 50% EU 50% UK in Northern Ireland, the price for support from the DUP may well be too rich for the Conservatives.

I quite agree it's no real surprise. But I have to add, if the Tories do find themselves in a situation where they need to form a coalition, then imo the DUP would be hugely preferable to the LibDems.

Indeed quite right. As soon as this news was released everyone immediately thought of the so called Windsor Framework going into the shredder.

As far as I recollect, the LibDems (as untrustworthy as the are) have not allied themselves to paramilitary groups…
