As at 6am. According to political scientist, Prof Sir John Curtice, on current results Labour are the clear winners, but will be disappointed the margin is not bigger.

Medway has just turned red. The soon to be Labour leader of that council, a fine figure of an obese chap with a pony tail, classic Labour, when asked if he will increase council tax spluttered slightly and prevaricated. People who vote Labour, you reap what you sow.

As predicted, Labour and the LibDems are whinging about voter ID. Superb, it's obviously working.

Why do people still vote for the Tories.
I know local issues play a huge part in local elections but there is not one honest Tory in the national party and they are the 'beacon' for Tory councillors.

Lewis Baston the analyst from the Guardian is predicting a lead of 10-11% in his national vote share model - I'm surprised its that small. Is the LibDem revival eating into the Labours lead?

Whisper it, who dare - but I actually voted for a tory yesterday..
We voted, here, for both Town and Borough Council. Maximum of 4 votes for the latter, and there were only two Labour candidates.
So I gave a cross to a local businessman who is one of the nicest, most generous (he'll put his hand in his pocket for ANY local cause) guys you could ever wish to meet - standing for the Blue Meanies.
I've long figured that local politics are different - vote for the candidate, not the badge. (And keep quiet about it, because if Mr S******** ever finds out I voted for him, I'll never hear the last of it..)

It's not very democratic when 70% of the electorate are not voting. Maybe an apathy party would do well.

Tories are currently projected to lose 1000 seats tonight. Stafford looking like conceding control to Labour. You could well wake up to a Labour council tomorrow morning Red. I doubt they will lose a thousand, that's the worst case. This post has not aged well.
