I believe the term 'gammon' refers to the skin-tone of some British males in a pejorative manner. I wonder how Darling Heino would react if we started refering to members of the BAME population as 'darkies'?

Gammon refers to some white people, just as blonde jokes refer to some white people. Neither gammons nor blondes are a race.
