He is a Tory, appointed by a Tory to do the Tories work, and as most people suspected, he has now been proven to be corrupt, just like the Tory who appointed him.
But this is an ideal opportunity for Rishi Sunak to change the way people are appointed, by taking the responsibility away from the government.
Its time there was an All Party Committee without a majority to any political party, irrespective of which party governs, and who should invite candidates for the post, and choose entirely upon merit.

I've been down to the BBC in Cardiff just this week to talk about a few of their staff working on a non-BBC project.
The hoops we're going to have to jump through to make this happen - for the very best of reasons, and the sake of transparency - are quite something.
As the Roath Lock Studio business guy said: "I see our own Chair didn't have to bother with any of that.."
