Labour thought they had a cunning plan to put the Government on the back foot. They were going to table a Bill banning sewage discharges in rivers by 2030 in the expectation that the Tories would vote against it and thus be seen to support sewage discharges in to the Rivers. Unfortunately todays Labour Party are not as bright as they think they are and the Tories laid an amendment to the Bill that changed the wording of the Bill and was voted on first. Conservative MPs voted to continue taking action on sewage, whilst ensuring Labour could not take control of the order paper. The Conservatives forced a second vote on Labour's newly amended motion, in which Labour MPs abstained. I.e. Labour did NOT vote to reduce sewage - they ended up abstaining on their own Bill. If Labour get to form the next Government then they are free to do whatever they like - however their performance in Wales where they have been in charge of the Water system for the past 21 years does not inspire confidence...

Probably one reason dumbo (or maybe not so dumb) Drakeford is taking huge backhanders so the 'for profit' water companies can dump their sewage in Welsh waters.

Why the fuck would anybody vote for a party that has a dishonest argument? It is a structural problem, not a fat cat problem!
The problem is not why sewage is being dumped into rivers, the problem is how do we fund the £600b (£25,000 per household!!) needed to upgrade our sewers so it can be stopped.
Lastly, we invest more than ANYBODY IN EUROPE, and far more than we ever did under nationalisation, because shock horror, nobody votes for sewers. We also have less leaks and less releases that Scotland... which is nationalised lol. So the shareholder argument is populist bollocks too. Don't believe me? Listen carefully to the arguments Labour make. They talk about how many swimming pools are lost to leaks, but they make no comparison as to what was lost under nationalisation (30% more btw). They talk about shareholders, but make no mention of how our investment compares to the rest of Europe.

The information is there, you can find it in seconds on the internet, there is a £600b structural problem with the sewers. Yet speak to virtually anybody in the street and they will trot out the line that privatisation has caused it, and if it is made public again the problem would magically disappear. How can you even reason with anybody that chooses to blame shareholder bonuses, and not 100+ years of under investment? This is my problem with Labour. They know they are lying about the problem, so how are they actually going to solve it? Their great idea will just result in the company not releasing sewage and instead letting it back up into your house... fucking great.

Its all bollox, Labour will say look we are trying to do something about it and those wily Conservatives are putting the boot in, if it was going to happen it would be done, the Conservatives were given a massive majority. none of them could lie straight in bed. I couldn't give a flying fuck about who said what and who did what, sort it out that is what they are there for in the first place.

Where do you get £600b from? Even if we had the money, can you imagine how long it would take to do £600b worth of work. They are slowly dealing with it, but it is going to take decades upon decades. It is a complete lie for anybody to say that you can simply fine companies to make them stop. That is my point, if people cannot be honest about the problem, how so they ever hope to solve it?
