High Court rules asylum seekers can be housed at former RAF stationThe High Court has rejected a local authority’s bid to stop a former RAF station from being converted into accommodation for asylum seekers. Ministers want to house up to 1,700 adult males at MDP Wethersfield, currently used for specialist police training, to avoid having to put them up in hotels at greater cost to the taxpayer. metro.co.uk/2023/04/21/high-court-rules-asylum-seekers-can-be-housed-at-former-raf-station-18653597/I sympathise with locals who faught against the plans, lets face it who would welcome hundreds of illegals, all young men, dumped in their neighborhood. This cross channel fiasco is one almighty cock up.

Then, stop voting Tory. They have done nothing to stop them and hardly any have been deported. In fact they are planning to welcome more than ever, this year.

I have a lot of sympathy for people living in quiet and peaceful areas whose lives are going to be impacted by these mass invasions. In one of the press reports a local resident said that instead of imposing this infliction on people who've done nothing to deserve it the government should focus instead on accommodating unwanted migrants on brownfield sites in London. She didn't say this, but it doesn't have to be anything fancy, perhaps even re-purposed shipping containers like they use in Germany. Or maybe abandoned industrial facilities or warehouses no longer in use. They don't have to be rebuilt into hotel-style facilities, just make the buildings weatherproof and erect tents inside instead of rooms, like the Germans did at Tempelhof airport in Berlin.

I absolutely agree, if it's OK for The EU to accommodate illegals, asylum seekers call them what you will in tents and containers and clearly it is, then why the hell do we house them in hotels and give them mobile phones and pocket money? A tented camp on Dartmoor complete with an insufficient number of portaloo's would provide uncomfortable yet adequate shelter from the elements, and have the added bonus of being an unattractive alternative to facilities provided in the EU. |

The Tories didn't allow a vote on EU Membership because everyone was voting for them - they allowed a vote because their supporters were sloping off and voting for someone else. |

But, I would say that if we are not prepared to move away from the two main parties, there is little hope for substantial change in this country as our freedoms are slowly worn down. |
