Remember the two men who climbed up the Dartford Bridge , bringing traffic to a standstill, they have been held in custody since October last year.
They have just been sentenced
Judge Shane Collery KC sentenced Trowland at Southend Crown Court to three years in prison, while Decker was jailed for two years and seven months.
“You have to be punished for the chaos you caused and to deter others from copying you,” he said.
The judge said that Trowland, who has six previous convictions relating to protests, had a “leading role”, while Decker had one previous conviction relating to a protest.
The judge said that the pair “plainly believed you knew better than everyone else”, adding: “In short, to hell with everyone else.”
“By your actions you caused this very important road to be closed for 40 hours,” the judge said, noting that the disruption affected “many tens of thousands, some very significantly”.
Better than nothing but IMHO should have been longer

The problem is, there are people out there that believe what they did was justified and that they are "martyrs". I'm glad they have gone to prison, should be out and about again about this time next year. With Trowland, it is clear he will not learn.

His life his decisions, his problems, next time he commits a similar Offence he will probably be sent back to Prison for much longer

What made me laugh when those two dickheads were jailed was the reaction from Gail Bradbrook who is co founder of Extinction Rebellion, apparently she was 'horrified' at the sentences. LOL superb.

But but the sentence was too harsh said one,the climate crisis should’ve been taken in to account, and he was right there’s a climate in this country that allows protest which is how it should be but that climate has changed so much that these tossers are allowed to disrupt people attempting to live and work whilst they are offered tea and a polite word. The police as usual can’t win but I did like the attitude of one senior officer iirc at a protest at the Fawley refinery, the protesters dug a passage under the entrance road and sat in there the cop let the tankers roll and the fools in the passage said you can’t do that the road could collapse and kill us and the cop told them you have the freedom to go or stay in the passage the choice is yours but the tankers will continue to roll. Good for him. www.lbc.co.uk/news/eco-activist-jailed-dartford-bridge-high-sentence-climate-crisis/

It's the job of the police to enforce the law of this land as set down by parliament. The 1980 Highways Act clearly states that wilfully obstructing free passage of the public highway is an offence punishable by 51 weeks in prison or an unlimited fine, or both. It would seem that 21st century woke police have decided that they decide what the law is, not parliament.

I would add that it is the Crown Prosecution Service ( CPS) that decides who is charged and with what, the Police do not make that decision and have not since 1984

The law says it is an offence to wilfully block the public highway and is punishable by a term of imprisonment not exceeding 51 weeks, or a fine, or both. Yet our woke police sympathise with lefty anarchists and arrest people who want to get to work. This does not bode well.

The law says many things and whilst I don’t disagree with most you posted it is often ignored or manipulated for political or other reasons,to pile it all on the police with a throwaway woke description is if you’ll excuse thepun a cop out. As has already been pointed out a lot is down to the cps too.

I agree , I can understand members of the public getting very angry with the Protesters and do drag them off the road, but that is assault the Police quite rightly step in to stop it getting any worse , as the old games goes the Police are " Piggie in the middle "

It would seem that 21st century woke police have decided that they decide what the law is, not parliament. The problem is of course that judges decide how the law is applied and one turned round the other day and said the terrorist scum were acting out of conscience and for that reason there was no punishment that could be applied do they walked free
