The highest temperature on Earth was recorded in 1913. Some coral is dying because of ocean acidification and higher temperatures. Higher temperatures should actually reduce acidification because it releases CO2 from solution. The higher temperatures of the ocean may well be because of changing ocean currents - which are also causing strong warming from El Nino (several degrees near the ocean's surface). Unfortunately scientists don't yet understand the ocean currents, which is why we can't predict El Ninos. The thing is that "climate" is very complex and the models we have are at a very early stage of development and don't work very well - if at all. It's very dangerous to say that anything is caused by "climate change" because there are so many factors involved, many of which we don't understand. It's a great "get out of jail" card for the politicians of course, but it's not backed up by "the science".
