What's the betting the kid is black and we never hear anything more about it? Running someone over in a stolen car is usually treated leniently, it would be manslaughter at best. That the CPS charged with murder suggests a previous history. And let's face it: Black on black killing is hardly a rarity.
Add in that no one appears to be playing the race card and, well...
Ok, that might not be the case but based on the balance of probabilities I'd say it's a more than even chance.

As I understand it because the charge is Murder the boy will end up in a Crown Court, it will be down to the Judge if he or she imposes Reporting Restriction in full or not if a full trial goes ahead unless a guilty plea is entered, it will be the normal procedure which is the Media can report on what the Jury have been told that day.
What the Media have reported so far is common knowledge, what has been said in here so far can have little or no bearing on the case either

I knew couple who fostered a young boy who had "been in trouble". When I met him he was with a couple of his mates. He was totally into being a "criminal mastermind". The couple who were fostering him hadn't a clue about what was going on.
When I was a teenager I became friendly with a girl who lived in a "home" (she worked in the same factory as me). I visited her there and met some of the others in the home. One of them, a girl, "tested me out" ... by holding a needle close to my eye. She was quite impressed that I didn't "freak out". One day the girl I was friendly with stuck her finger through a hole in the guard of a press she was operating and got it chopped off. She calmly went to the foreman and showed him ... told him what she'd done: "look what I've done," said with a smile on her face.
There used to be wards in mental hospitals for criminally insane children ... now they care for them "in the community".
In the 60s I did a short prison sentence in an open prison (Springhill). At Christmas we attended a gathering at the nearby Grendon prison ... which was "An experimental psychiatric prison and psychiatric unit for prisoners with antisocial personality disorders". Back then the media described it as a prison for the "criminally insane". The inmates there were kept separate from us. At the gathering I looked up to see rows of "mad faces" looking down at us. Every so often I see people in the street who remind me of them. "Damaged, dangerous, and disturbed" human beings.

About 1 in 4 of the UK population will suffer some sort of mental health issue at some time,the mental health service is and always was the Cinderella of the nhs look at the state of the nhs as a whole and what does that tell you? There are young people dying because of this and there are people with some sort of learning disability being held indefinitely in appalling conditions suffering mental and physical abuse and nobody really gives a stuff. A very small number of people with mental health conditions are a risk to the wider world the facts are the majority are at more risk from the general public than the reverse. |
