Quite right too, well said Morgan. It's an issue that hasn't yet been solved. On the few occasions we have had to suspend an account we have sent a PM giving an explanation and letting the poster know how long the suspension will last. The trouble is that they can't access their PM's until the suspension has run its course.

No right of appeal, once your account is suspended/cancelled you're out. There may be mitigating circumstances, OK unlikely, but I've always been of the opinion that an appeal however futile, must be right. Perhaps not in front of the forum where friendships may colour judgment, but I think any poster who is suspended or perish the thought banned should at least have a fair trial before forum moderators. I accept Tincs will probably see this as an unnecessary level of bureaucracy that he doesn't need to bother with, and he would be quite right. But it would be nice to have access to an appeal, dontcha think? Being banned or cancelled is a bit like standing before the CO with the RSM and the Adjutant behind you. There is no right of appeal. You are fucked, and you know you're fucked. Bugger. Monte, is that a position you would want to put people in? I didn't think so.

I wouldn't permanently ban anyone unless they were posting something that threatened the forum. Dub's came close to this when he was posting anti-vaccine covid conspiracy theories in direct contravention of Proboards rules. Also spam accounts. We've had a few of them which we have blocked immediately. Suspensions are never put in place without fair warning. Like the case Morgan referred to, the poster was previously warned not to do what he was suspended for.
