From today a new British standards BS12721:2024 for mains cables used in new builds was introduced .....The Earth is now fully insulated and multi stranded rather than the old single strand un insulated cable....It has been adopeted by England as surprisingly by Wales, But of course Scotland as always are holding off in adopting the new stardard.....Who would ever have guessed?.....LOL

They will wait until they’ve used up all the old wire .
No point in wasting perfectly good cable ye ken .😉

Seems like a belt and braces approach as the earth usually only carries a momentary current if there is a fault. What was wrong with a bit of green and yellow earth sheath on the end of the cable?
I expect the price will be a little higher.

I expect the price will be a little higher. I agree mate,,, It seems the power that-be excuse the pun are not on the same wavelength... What many do not realise is the FACT that ground and neutral are common and are connected to each other. |
