UK PM Rishi Sunak has come under fire after government data revealed that he spent nearly £500,000 on private jet trips in just over a week last year. The figures, which were included in a Cabinet Office report detailing prime ministerial travel during the third quarter of 2022, have prompted accusations that Sunak is out of touch and ill-equipped to lead on environmental issues, as per a report from The Guardian. According to the report, the UK government spent just under £108,000 on private jet travel for Sunak's attendance at the COP27 summit in Egypt. The PM flew in on 6 November and returned the following day. A week later, he embarked on a round trip to the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, at a cost of over £340,000. www.republicworld.com/world-news/uk-news/uk-pm-rishi-sunak-under-fire-for-spending-500k-on-private-jet-hire-in-just-two-weeks-articleshow.htmlI have to say, common sense says a prime minister will from time to time need to travel by private jet. But there is a certain amount of irony in spending £108,000 on a private jet to attend a climate change conference (lol).

Sunak (and I cannot believe I am defending the clown) is using the A321 that is under exclusive lease to the UK Government. So even had Sunak flown on Ryanair we would still be paying for the A321.

Like you I am struggling to believe that I am about to defend Sunak, but the Prime Minister of the UK - or that of any other country for that matter - cannot afford to go completely off grid for the duration of a flight and will often be using the time to discuss important business. This cannot reasonably and securely be done on the back seats of a crowded Ryanair passenger jet. A private jet is thus necessary for reasons of confidentiality and to use the time to conduct government business. Time is important to any leader too, which makes a jet necessary for getting from A to B as quickly as possible. Of course we can all grasp the inherent hypocrisy of leaders talking about climate change using private jets to get everywhere, but what else are they supposed to do when the discussion of trade, climate change itself, treaties or whatever makes meeting up necessary? We just have to accept that really and understand that every private government jet in the world added together will constitute only a tiny fraction of total worldwide flights. And generally they will be far more necessary flights than most of those made by private individuals

He does not have time to waste he has to get things done especially at home his job and his Minsters is not 9 to 5 working all hours of the day and well into the night, it makes sense to use a private jet
