Indeed he did.
Paul was having problems with his leg. They found a growth that did not look right. By the time the Welsh tests got round to offering him a consultation, he was having mobility problems and was living temporarily with his sister a state registered nurse in mid wales.
He received an appointment for a cancer consultation and while in the waiting room, he coughed. Once.
The (Asian, and therefore at higher risk of organ failure - as admitted by the transplant service in 2009) consultant refused to see him, had him removed by security and told to take a PCRvtest.
This was at the height of Nurses in Welsh Hospitals being told to go to England for a PCR test as the pontificating twat then mismanaging the health service here was unable to get PCR tests in the Welsh language so would not authorise any.
Paul did eventually get a PCR test the other side of Offas Dyke but by the time the pontificating twat arranged for English tests to be recognised and his consultation was arranged, the condition was terminal. Some kind of bone sarcoma.
We lost Paul very quickly. One week he was drinking in the pub on Sunday night, on Monday he was rushed to Velindre where his last text to us was ‘it seems this adventure is over’ and he was dead the next day.
We were allowed to go to the funeral. Which was a privilege not allowed a few hundred thousand when their family and friends succumbed.
Two other friends of mine lost relatives to undiagnosed or untreated cancer with the same three months. My friend of forty years had to watch his wife die of lung cancer with no treatment or consultation at all. The only medical attention she got was the post mortem that confirmed lung cancer as the cause of death.
My wife had to have one of those endoscopy tests a fortnight ago to rule out her having the same cancer that got her mum at the age of 55
The hospital told her the test results would be sent to her GP in a fortnight
They never arrived.
The GP says tests of that nature come to them not in a fortnight, but in about a month, and the hospital handles the notification.
She rang the hospital to ask what on earth was going on and was told they have no record of her attending
It took her mother a month to die of intestinal cancer caused by eating radioactive meat from sheep left out to graze on Welsh hills onto which Chernobyl fallout had polluted the grassland. Several thousand radioactive sheep went into the food chain (well, never made it to a recorded cull). To this day Moira is unaware of the Geiger counter reading taken by my father’s best mate from school, Bernard Knight the Home Office Pathologist. He got involved at my request - I had in the past let him use my labs kit to run some tests as we had the best in the country and the uni needed the home offices money. Moira knows they opened her mum up, saw how fast the tumour was growing and sent her home to die, what he doesnt know is how radioactive she was. And now the prize arseholes running the shitshow have fucked up again and I don’t know if Moira’s in the same boat.
It’s easy to see how people get radicalised.
