London Borough of Hackney has decided to make its LTN in Stoke Newington permanent. It's now imposing street closures and restrictions around the borough.
Here's the type of data on which it has bases decisions — closing a major shopping street to motor taffic to everything but buses for 12 hours (between 7am and 7pm) has cut other traffic by 53 percent. Surprise, surprise...

It's reasonable for local authorities to determine where traffic can and can't run, isn't it? One-way streets, for example, or single and double white and yellow lines, chevrons and lane dividers, etc. Every change of such regulations will be better for some road-users and worse for others. What's the particular objections to the latest changes?

It's civil unrest, which will lead to riots, people are fed up and taking matters into their own hands, if no one listens to them this is what will happen, and the police wont be cutout to deal with it. It's happening in London too - ULEZ cameras are being vandalised wholesale and rightly so, afer all what other options do people have when these measures are imposed contrary to the will of the majority? So basically in a 15 min city you will have no choice in your healthcare and dentistry etc, because you will only be allowed to use those very locally, a bit like the restrictions on choice of schools. Yes of course its a good thing, and most people who live in these Traffic Free Neighbourhoods say so Such areas often apply to older streets, often back to back terraces where many streets run paralel with one another, and typically instead of EVERY street been accessible to through traffic, they make for example every third or second street accessible. In virtually every instance it means that alternative access is literaly a street away, or a couple of streets, resulting in a delay of seconds, maybe as long as half a minute. These TFN areas often make huge improvements to peoples quality of life, often from so called "boy racers", from noise, polution, crime and the safety of children and pedestrians.
