With this particular topic we seem to go around in circles Some refugees choose the UK as a place to seek asylum for particular reasons - they may speak English, they know of other people who are here, friends, family; Or they want to come here because they feel that the UK offers them a chance to make a fresh start. There is no rule, no law, that states that a refugee must seek sanctuary in the first safe country they find themselves in - if that was the rule, some countries would be overwhemed and swamped. Countries bordering Syria are struggling to cope with refugees, Turkey has more refugees than any other nation in the world. The uk is struggling because the conditions we are expected to keep them in are much much better than the conditions in Turkey, we also supply money to Turkey to keep their refugees I do not think anyone gives us money to keep ours.
