Some proper advice on opinion polls: There's only one that matters. Whilst that is technically true, polls do show a snapshot of opinion at any particular time. The fact is that they are a measure of opinion now, and not what it might be in a general election some time from now. They do however help to demonstrate the extent of any turn arounds in public opinion that might be necessary for anyone's victory. But I also note that the very people who spout your advice when the polls show their own preferred choice to be behind, on the contrary often crow about them when they show their own side to be ahead. For that reason I take less heed of peoples responses to polls than I do to the polls themselves

One of the reactions to a ‘surprise failure’ in opinion polling was the question being asked ‘is it possible the people being polled are giving you the answers they think you want, and keeping their real beliefs for the only poll that matters’
The question was asked in one of the political shows cant recall which, and the panel treated the question and the questioner like dogshit, how dare they suggest the mghty opinion poll had been rumbled
I think they were onto something

In a way yes. Sunak is seen as the competent one. One wonders why the Tory members voted for Truss. It's them that is out of touch. The people in this country are incredible stupid, and although they criticise the politicians, the politicians are their representatives. They are selected by the party for one reason alone, which is to win elections. You get the leader you deserve!
