Wildfires are not any significant risk to people living in the UK. Gullibility is far more dangerous Up to you. It's happening anyway. And as last year showed, heatwave-wildfire risks are increasing. So why wait to put in what is a fairly simple overlay to an existing system...
As recent events have demonstrated, wildfire can pose a very present and real risk to properties in the UK. A number of the fires seen over recent weeks occurred in suburban or urban areas, the fires started in open spaces, including by roadsides, and have spread to engulf homes and businesses.

I love the way this is rationalised wildfires and floodsYep - that's going to come in so handy Both are possible. Up where I live there are puddles in the fields and I've seen smoke coming from stacks of bricks on the rooves. We're in danger. I guess there is some risk - i once walked into a flood field and the water came over my wellies and my socks got wet. Not nice at all. It would be good if i got an alert from the government so i know not to do this

www.clydeco.com/en/insights/2022/07/wildfires-areal-risk-for-the-ukHeatwave wildfire risks happened last year in a similar way that they happened in 1976. It is not clear yet if they are increasing as you seem to be saying one swallow makes a summer. We have to see a trend of heatwaves and so far we have not. The problems of fire risk and flood stem in part from how we use and drain land.

There were notices saying "Flood" for several weeks whilst Lincolnshire CC tried to pass the blame to the Railway company because the flood was located beneathe the crossing. My phone buzzing would not have done anything but annoy.

NO, you'll miss the warning and will not have the 3 minutes to kiss your ass goodbye. I will have time to climb a ladder to see the big flash. LOL, "I'll miss the warning", ffs I've done more battlefield nuclear training than you can shake a stick at, you have no concept of what you're talking about. But if you think carrying a mobile phone 24/7 will save you, then carry on. All the way back in the 80s it occurred to me what good would it do the average squaddie in west berlin to know they had four minutes to kiss their arse goodbye, i mean thats not exactly long enough to find a bloody pub is it Oh yeah. I don’t know if we have found the setting but melissa came home from school yesterday having discussed with her fellow second year comp friends how to disable this annoyance on their iphones, snd she said she’ll ask tomorrow where the equivalent setting is for grandma’s android. Grandkids do have their uses

Grandkids do have their uses It wasn't just squaddies in Berlin who could kiss their arse goodbye. In 1980 I was posted to Nienburg, smack in middle of the north German plain, perfect tank country for the red hoards who, we were told, were waiting to pounce from just inside the (IGB) Inner German Border. As far as I can remember if the balloon went up the plan was for us to move west blowing up bridges across the big German rivers as we went, which would hopefully provide significant obstacles for the advancing red hoards. I don't know how much thought was given to the local population, not much probably. Yes kids & tech, it's second nature I suppose. My kids (Young adults) are very tech savvy but they don't seem to appreciate that although a mobile smart phone is convenient and very clever, it is also a personal tracking device.

Do you think they are using Pegasus to do this blanket “emergency alarm” exercise?? … ukpoliticsdebate.boards.net/thread/2123/pegasus-spyware-threatens-democracy?page=1&scrollTo=78847 what is sinister about this … is the instruction that your phone won’t work until you ‘acknowledge’ the Alert.
This is an unnecessary part of their “information service” … disabling a users phone is malware in effect - telling you to press an option that could possibly download some spyware or further malware onto your phone (that might further disable it?)🤔 …like scam e-mails we were taught to avoid this crap … responding … pressing on links to God knows what??.Footnote: Suspicion and distrust of Government suggests this action could open up a conduit to let in Pegasus … a future where they suck all your private data and future communications into Government databases ?? … a future to possibly ruin a career further down the line? … very Big Brother. Do tyrannical Governments think we are stupid? … yes, they do … and clearly want to exploit that to the max!
Knowing the betrayal of Apple and Samsung, Google etc to hard wire backdoor vulnerabilities into our phones … to let in hackers ….would we even know if future generations of Mobiles had Pegasus wired into the chip architecture??
Shouldn’t we protect future generations from this spy culture? …. where any sort of protest or activism against these Deep State/Government operatives can result in giving them the power to destroy careers, stop anyone’s bank account, starve there family and make even journalists homeless at the click of a button.
The film “Enemy of the State” gave fair warning what the “Emergency Alert” Brigade could be all about. …. Stasi …. Pt 2.………………… Fire and flood alarms?? ……. Try nuclear attack alarms … NATO leaders stirs shit up in Ukraine and elsewhere from their deep nuclear bunkers … the BBC gives bullshit phoney war platitudes to tone down the ‘threat of Putin retaliation’ … Authority and Auntie Beeb give no advice in Britain regarding nuclear bunker provision for it’s citizens - All we get in the UK is a f. Notification!🤬 … “Dr Strangelove here … Kiss your ass goodbye” …. 🙄👏 It’s 🤡🤡 World … under these Biden Bots …. Bring back Trump … all is forgiven.

Getting back to the OP, briefly lol. I just heard on Times Radio that because the government are aware this 'alarm' they are going to hack peoples mobile phones with is unpopular, they are now saying, "It's the call that may save your life". Incredible. And what's even more incredible, is the fact that people will willingly do as they are told, like good little automatons.

And when I look at my framed photos I have to say, in spite of everything they were great days. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
