I am not sure about Ash Regan, but Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes are too well clued up to believe that another indyref will happen in the next couple of decades. However, they have to string the SNP membership along on this and pretend that they believe in this 5 year timeframe otherwise they would kill off their prospects of winning the leadership fight.
BTW - SNP members have a difficult choice in this election. Yousaf is, in my option, a better candidate for party leader whilst Forbes would clearly make the better First Minister. I know that it ain’t going to happen, but Regan’s idea of separating governance from campaigning would actually lend itself to resolving this dilemma.

Why do you keep talking about another independence referednum , when most folk now have come around to accepting that isnt going to be the way forward , and a general election is the way forward?
Humza yousafs opinion isnt credible , and of course as im sure you are aware , if he wins , that will be the end of the snp but not the indy movement.
Kate forbes is another matter , and it remains to be seen if she wins , (i think she remains the most likely but i prefer ash regan) and what her proposals are when in power.

They're falling over each other screaming the same nonsense, which has all be told before in some variation. It's all about dividing Scotland for power.

I am pretty sure that some form of referendum will be a precursor to independence, even if it is only a confirmatory referendum. However, please feel free to interpret my use of “referendum” here to mean “independence” . Do most folk accept that a general election is the way forward? The de facto referendum initiative never got going beyond being a disputed strategic option within the Indy movement and, as far as I can see, most therein now recognise that it is not a credible option (which, of course, it isn’t).

Is not a credible option? It was the de facto option for decades prior to the 2014 indyref. Indeed , we can all recall thatcher famously saying that all scottish nationalists had to do was win a majority of scottish seats at westmisnter and no true english democrat would stand in our way.
Of course , we dont expect anti democrats like you , who have repeatedly told me that you would deny demcoracy to the english and scottish to keep your union together to go along with anything sensible .
Thankfully you are in a tiny minority.
