Taking Vinny's story at face value, opens up a Pandora's box of outlandish possibilities. If souls (we) can exist without bodies, or can move from one life to another, then the notion of (say) a demon is not much of an extension to the idea. Demonic possession would just be an inappropriate attachment of the same nature. What is the true nature of extreme dissociative identity disorder? Vinny, the story as you describe it doesn't have a rational explanation - except coincidence or the child being encouraged to come up with the story. A story of that type is very advanced for a two year old. Most two year olds can't even really report a story. I think this particular case is interesting and benign … and opens up an opportunity to casually research a past life … and maybe give a child of advanced intelligence ‘closure’ if the trauma of the ‘crash’ lodged in the psyche causes disturbance or an exaggerated unreasonable phobia to travelling in motor vehicles or aircraft. … did the parents find out details of the crash from the child? … maybe that is an avenue to explore … to rationalise these ‘memories’ for the infant? … it might help any spiritual residues to ‘move on’ … and remove preconceptions from the child’s development path. As these things are rare … I would see it as a blessing initially … especially if it’s giving the child a first class intellect … fast tracked!

My friend lives abroad on the other side of the world. My usual contact with him is Facebook.
