Who really cares? It's all water under the bridge now and hindsight is a wonderful thing. Yeah, yeah - mistakes were made. Lockdown and social distancing were almost totally pointless. We know that now but we didn't know what we were dealing with then. No point crying over spilt milk. I do - if we dont hold the buggers to account for all their daft decisions then they will just go ahead and do exactly the same nonsense next time.. When you have that stupid mare in Scotland suggesting cutting off the top and bottom of doors to improve ventilation and the clown in Wales deciding that thou can only shop in certain aisles in Tescos god knows what crap they will come out with during the next flu season.

Plenty of them are thinking they will resign and not stand again, we are thinking they won't escape so easily this time. Putting in Labour as cover just won't wash.

From the moment some of us realised we were being scammed and robbed of our freedom and our cash, we tried to flag it and were closed down by the authorities on social media. They need to be held to account for the breaches of human rights, in the name of protecting our human health, which didn't need protecting much at all, and what they did do failed all round. I don't forgive that, in fact I say, get them to court, soon. But, I am not hopeful of criminals like Hancock going to prison, because they will prevaricate and obfuscate over a "Covid enquiry", which they will probably lock away for 50 years until we are all dead.

Well exactly. That's why it's all so thoroughly pointless.
If they'd gone the other way, the exact same people would be moaning about that.
Something happened. Something had to be (seen) to be done.
But since no one knew what exactly had happened, no one knew what exactly had to be done.
Personally, I'd have called bullshit on the whole thing. But then I'm well known for that in my profession and I'm not a politician.

I agree even the so called Medical Experts could not agree totally with each other what the best course of action to take, if they had tried the Herd Principle which means the weak may have died and the strongest and fitness survived would fewer people have dies ? even with the benefit of hindsight we don't know . As for Hancock being a Criminal is he maybe ? but not until he or anyone else is convicted by the due process of Law he isn't

The Squeezed Middle says 'no one knew what exactly had to be done' and Handyman adds that 'even the so called Medical Experts could not agree totally with each other what the best course of action to take'. But isn't that precisely why it was unjustifiable to shut down all but the one official opinion from being presented ?
There were plenty of 'Medical experts' who were sidelined, or silenced, or who self-censored in order to preserve their careers. As BlackisWhite reminds us, there was only the one allowable opinion permitted ..... 'we tried to flag it and were closed down by the authorities on social media' and that is all the more shocking when even those wishing to overlook or downplay the levels of big State censorship, now also seem to admit that 'the science' was nowhere near settled despite what was churned out for public consumption day after day.
That Hancock should then be rewarded with well paid television appearances and lucrative book contracts only rubs salt into the wounds ..... and those who promoted Hancock to the job, and just as scandalously kept him there, also continue to see the money roll in, while they now concentrate their efforts on hastening the outbreak of WW3. It's been a truly shocking episode in our history, but Hancock is by no means the only one to blame.

Does anyone remember the pandemic threads in the old forum, in which the death figures in various countries were compared in order to 'prove' that x or y political leader was murdering people by not locking down 'hard enough'?
They called this behaviour "following the science"

It's been a truly shocking episode in our history, but Hancock is by no means the only one to blame. No matter how many times we go round and round in circles the Government of the day like many other Governments had to make difficult decisions because of Covid, decisions that they had never ever imagined they would have to make, back in 1918 Flu pandemic which killed many many millions estimated to be at least 17 million and maybe as high as 50 million, because back then we had no vaccines to even try and fight that Virus, and no Anti Biotics either for bacterial infections either, it was left to chance if you were lucky you survived. Today we have vaccines and medications that has dealt with such conditions as Smallpox, Diphtheria, TB, Polio, Rubella, Scarlet Fever, etc the World Health Organization state that in order to protect the population of any country you need to Vaccinate 95% of the population, here in the UK it was and still is personal choice. The Labour Party backed Lockdowns and wanted them in place for longer it matters not what they thought was more appropriate at the end of the day they were fireproof the buck did not stop with them , had they been in power they too would now be having to justify what they decided to do, hindsight is an exact science unfortunately no person or Government can avail themselves of it until its too late, far too late What comes next for Hancock, the Government, Medical Scientists and anyone else involved in Pandemic Decision making PPE etc depends on the Investigation

Handyman
The Government didn't have to, if they kept their nose out, the people of the country would have had to make the decisions for themselves, whether they wanted to wear a face mask, whether they wanted to attend a funeral, whether they wanted to leave their house for an hour of exercise, whether they wanted to open their business. Personal choice seemed to be in very short supply if I remember rightly, with Government leaning on certain employers to coerce their workers to get vaccinated ...... the Government didn't have to choose when to deploy a new variant, that should be doctors and the medical profession announcing it when it's detected, not Politicians taking charge of the information or deciding to keep people in quarantine for twice as long as necessary for political reasons ( M.Hancock: ' 'So we don't look as if we got it wrong') rather than for medical or health reasons.
OK, if they've mostly taken control of the health service then give the NHS the cash to get the necessary vaccines and the finance for doctors to explain to the public that volunteering for the vaccine is probably in your and your families best interests (but there's no comeback on the manufacturers if it does you more harm than good).
Government jumped in boots first and went North Korean, and the likes of Hancock revelled in it, and yes, under the likes of Sir Keir it would have been even more authoritarian and lasted a lot longer. Some Governments never even seriously considered there being any need to close schools, and it never crossed their minds to stop people visiting a dying relative ......it wasn't a difficult decision they agonised over whether to make ...... whereas our power hungry lot pondered over whether they could get away with something so draconian and heartless. Things that Government shouldn't even consider getting involved in ...... yes we elected these people who formed the Government that acted in such a dictatorial way, but the tyranny of the majority, when exercised in such a way, gives democracy a bad name.

I actually started feeling sorry for Hancock. I applaud your innate empathy which exceeds my own by an immeasurable amount. My feelings towards the piece if shit are that they should have made his entry to I’m A Celeb happen with a yard wide stained handkerchief where a ripstop nylon and silk parachute should have been, and the plane he was thrown from should have towed a banner ‘how do you feel about THAT for PPE you puece of shit’ I confess had the TV company put that behind a paywall inwould have paid to watch him plummet to a grisly end as a flattened bloidy pulp.

The government had plenty of support for the lockdown from the keyboard authoritarians in my experience. Some seem to get off on it and get off even more on slagging the ones who might question if it was necessary.

Now they can see from the WhatsApp messages just how that abortion of a narrative was birthed. It was illegitimate and breached Human Rights laws.
