Glacier melt accounts for about 20% of sea level rise which has been about 4 inches since 1993, so about an inch and a bit every decade and glacier melt will provide just over a quarter of an inch a decade. It seems we will all be drowning very soon. These are figures from official cultist sources. I was asked for proof of global warming, not a script for a disaster movie. Why do deniers all think we are looking at some extinction level event. What we are looking at is massive upheaval in our weather patterns, some fertile areas will become barren, some barren areas fertile. Some rivers will flood and change their courses, others dry up. Many animal species will nope cope with the changes and become extinct. Houses built for one type of climate will find themselves in an entirely different one they were not built for, flat roofed whitewashed homes will flood and tiled roofed homes will overheat. The result won't be extinction, but it will mean hardship and some famine and war. And the warming wont be a single event to survive and get over. No, until we stop pumping Co2 into the atmosphere it will keep getting warmer, so that every adaption we make, every change to building, farming, flood defence, water storage change will be a temporary one to be repeated as the climate changes again and again. Can you be specific by telling us where these tragic events will happen. |

But it is not happening is it? I see the usual karens are harping on about having snow and a few poxy degrees below freezing which is a total croc. They gave out snow last night for this neck of the woods it was 7 degrees C and pissed down with rain most of the night and is still raining now in some areas of the SW. Its not the weather its climate change. What we see is constant records broken and evermore frequent events. If you haven't noticed then tough, its you that's left behind. I hope someday you'll catch up. However records are not constantly being broken without criticism of how those records come be measured and ever 'more frequent events' are not actually coming to pass. The models indicate this will happen but so far they have not. There are an awful lot of 'mays' and 'coulds' when discussing this. |

You presented figures in volume terms with no indication of what those figures actually mean. I was putting your figures into context and 27.5m from a 1 kilometre thick glacier is 2.75% of its thickness. Massive upheaval is par for the course with all sorts of natural things including climate. About 6 kilometres of coast have been lost in some areas of Lincolnshire over the last few thousand years, the Northern Sahara used to be fertile with a climate that would support vegetation, Britain was joined to Europe and since Roman times many ports throughout Europe have silted up and become unusable. Adapting to changes is what mankind has been doing ever since we migrated out of Africa. Ice ages came and went, warming periods came and went, some summers were non existent, some winters were never ending. If pumping more and more C02 into the atmosphere will create more and more warming why has that warming not occurred for the last 8 years when the C02 pumping has not just been the same but increased dramatically. |

That period was also well known as the little ice age and then the climate, as climate is apt to do, started changing and a warming period ensued. The evidence of the earth indicates that this is a natural event connected with a multitude of factors. Of course the fact we now report warm records at airports beside black heat absorbent runways where Typhoon aircraft take off burning umpteen gallons of fuel as they pass will have nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with our current record. Besides you refer to 'global' warming and the records of the years you refer to indicate that the warming has stopped/paused/ceased/taken a holiday in that very period.
