The lack of a much better alternative under our FPTP system? PR would be good. Mind you, FPTP kept the BNP out of any seats in the 1990's and 2000's. I was always in favour of FPTP as it kept the extremists out of power. However I have changed my mind since the Tories decided to become New Labour with the result that it doesn't matter who you vote for you always end up with the same centre-left policies. At least with PR a range of alternative voices will be heard and will be able to influence policy.

Be careful as some forms just net up to FPTP and others reflect the minority parties.
Personally like the German model and that has allowed the AFD to emerge.

Thanks RR. Now I've seen the Art Deco alternative, I must agree it's far preferable. No connection with Taggart other than a year or so ago I managed to get through the first 3 or 4 chapters of Rand's book. I think it was haste in wanting to replace that egg headed alien baby as an avatar, that any small square pictorial symbol on the PC got shoved in. Will come up with something better at the weekend, but unlikely to find anything to rival Marlon.

I'll be honest I've never heard of Rand, but having recently read up, in the last few minutes actually, I'm wondering if she was the US version of Orwell.

Bentley Thanks for not giving any spoilers, as I may get back to it . Although I was about a quarter of the way through, I've left it so long I'd almost need to start from the beginning to pick up the thread.

The party that created and brought you Brexit is being exposed like the layers of an onion to reveal the government to be by far the most arrogant, self aggrandising, self seeking, slimy, lying, manipulating, authoritarian, infantile, intellectually challenged pieces of detritus in British history. Not 3rd world history...it is normal there. But in a country previously respected around the civilised world for honour, duty, democracy, keeping one's word, respecting the rule of law and originator of a lot of international law, I would never have thought that a bunch of political punks and skinheads could be "elected" to run the UK. And leave it in the hands of the chief nincampoop who ran it like an act of the dying of the Roman Empire. Brexit was the start, when they convinced the country it was in better hands when the reins of international agreement were let go. The UK was theirs to play with. The lunatics took over the asylum and it is now for the adults to tidy up the mess they left. As for being able to vote them out of office when we want, what's stopping us? Does this mean you’re not voting Tory in the next election?
