They give the people who run them and support them something to feel good about. They give the chief executive of the Trussell Trust £80,000 creamed off. They can even afford TV advertising. And the left love them as a stick to beat the nasty party.

By their own admission until COVID the main reason for Trussel Trust handouts was to people who had been let down by the system not giving them what they were legally entitled to in a timely manner.
As an example a few years ago Newport Council’s preferred housing association failed to receive the in work housing benefit payments from the government agency supplying the funds as a result of a UC changeover fuckup and promptly sent non payment eviction notices to hundreds of its tenants.
In a blind panic they went looking for money to meet the demanded unpaid rent and got themselves into all sorts of shit.
It was not until hundreds if them turned up at a Trussel Trust food bank that the real issue behind the problem was sought, found, and the government perpetrators named and shamed.
There is a need for these places but most of the time it is to cover up government fuckups and it isnt really something to be proud of

So, SM members and being a member of the EU still depends on EU "citizens" needing food banks.
One can only conclude, by rejoiner logic that the reason foodbanks are needed in the EU is because of the EU.

I have every confidence that see2 will be along shortly to explain how foodbanks in the EU are the fault of Brexit.

One can only conclude, by rejoiner logic that the reason foodbanks are needed in the EU is because of the EU. Well, given it was EEC policy to artificially inflate food prices and then dump the wine and milk lakes and meat and butter mountains those policies created in african states where EEC member countries populations could not benefit from the low price dumping, yes it is indeed the case that poverty in EEC countries was exacerbated by EEC policy I don’t know if the CAP that drove this insanity changed substantially after the EEC became the EU …
