Ah. A Statute Law(Repeals) act.
A mechanism used to have a bit of a cleanout.
To be fair, the usage to repeal the oaths act is EXACTLY the sort of thing these ‘cleanse the aegean stables’ acts are for.
Blair did something similar before he pissed off but he used secondary legislation to do it, keeping the fact he had done it off the radar and no one actually voted on his bonfire, making some regard it an abuse of prime ministerial powers at the time (the times editorial certainly did, not so much for what he threw away, but more for how no one had tbe chance to debate or vote)

Yeah, they weren't killed. They basically went on strike for better pay. A decade ago modern farmers would have sacked them, and hired eastern Europeans instead and said the Tolpuddle Martyrs were just lazy. Well we already have a leftie that admits he hired East Europeans because they would work hours that the natives would not. Wonder who's been hired to pick the asparagus this year now it's appearing in the stores nine weeks earlier than usual...
Waitrose has welcomed an extra early asparagus season which is due to arrive in shops from 21st February, nine weeks earlier than normal. Traditionally, the British asparagus season is from St George’s Day (23rd April), so Waitrose customers will be able to enjoy British Asparagus for even longer this year.
Sam Witherington, Waitrose Vegetable Buyer comments, “We know how much our customers enjoy home-grown British asparagus which is why we’re delighted that this year’s crop will be available earlier than usual, making our 2023 season the earliest to date.

I’m not too fussy about Asparagus . We do have a Waitrose close by if I want to buy it .
