Scots council rules out bank holiday for coronation of King Charles III
A bank holiday for the coronation of King Charles has been rejected by councillors in Shetland.
The coronation is due to take place on May 6 and an additional bank holiday had been scheduled for Monday, May 8, where people were encouraged to volunteer in their communities.
National holidays are a devolved matter for councils in Scotland to decide on and there was no legal obligation for the local authority to recognise it as a public holiday.
Only five scottish councils have endorsed coronation day so far .

The king is not so beloved. He made a lot of noise about slimming down the monarchy but has no intentions of slimming down the costs of the coronation. He wants all the pomp and circumstance he can get.

Well, the rest of us will be enjoying a day off. Quite.
Apparently the SNP have buggered up the Scottish economy so badly that they can't afford to give the poor bloody Scots a day off.

Queen Elisabeth’s coronation cost about £1.57 million, which is about £30 million today. Though King Charles’s guest list will be smaller, the costs of his coronation are estimated to reach as high as £100 million.
Any temporary boost to tourism resulting from the coronation will be offset by the £2.3 billion loss that, according to a previous report by the Centre for Economics and Business Research, each bank holiday costs the country.

Fortunately, much of the cost will be borne by the Scots.
Most of the UK will be having a day off and maybe raising a glass or two by way of celebration, while the Nats have ordered their countrymen to stay at work and pay for the holiday

"First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “The Coronation will be an historic moment for Scotland, and the Scottish Government wants to give as many people as possible the opportunity to join the celebrations.
“Scotland will want to send its best wishes to His Majesty, King Charles III, and The Queen Consort.” Background This bank holiday will operate in the same way as other bank holidays, and there is no statutory entitlement to time off. Employers may include bank holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement." www.gov.scot/news/scotland-to-mark-the-royal-coronation/But maybe the Scots find the King's enormous extravagance unseemly during an energy crisis when so many families are struggling to pay their bills.

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying has nothing to do with Nicola Sturgeon, but until her replacement is chosen, she remains in the role of FM.

The fact that you consistently refer to NS that way is an indication that no good faith conversation can be had with you on the subject.
