You would think that in a democracy like ours (stop laughing there at the back) where protests are not subject to being swiftly stifled by a Draconian government, all protests and protesters would be treated equally. Not so.
OK so you want to protest against fracking in your area. Fair enough. You would probably be regarded as a NIMBY. Just suppose you were gluing yourself to the road and blocking traffic for whatever reason, then you would be regarded as a crank - or a nuisance, and the police would remove you. Eventually.
But on the other hand, if you were to protest against the housing of asylum seekers in hotels, then not only would you be faced with a baying rent-a-mob of lefties, but you would also attract the interest of the police. Altercations would inevitably ensue, and arrests would be made. In addition you would be tagged as a swivel-eyed knuckle-dragging far right Nazi racist bigot. A level playing field? I don't think so!

Scousers are now being described as right wing btw - let that one sink in.
The government seems very happy to requisition hotels etc to house people who basically break into the country , but the uk has had a housing / homeless problem since the industrial revolution. Where were all the hotels before the break ins?

The Tories are encouraging this sort of action.

Perhaps it would cool things down a bit if a senior civil servant or official explained to these people why their communities had been re-designated as holding centres.
Most people are reasonable when they get a reasonable explanation. Of course, it would be better if this senior official's private residence were (say) directly opposite one of these facilities, rather than (say) 150 miles away.

Which right wing do you refer to? There is a right wing who are capitalist self-made company directors of large successful firms. That's one type and then there are the Nazis.

It might help but the truth is it's indefensible we have so many to accommodate and this government has screwed up a fair disincentive to come offshoring plan by of all places picking Rwanda and a limit of 200 people to go there. Could have put ten times that number on South Georgia and had no unsafe country legal issues

This happened close to where I work...
There was a group of residents peacefully protesting, which attracted a counter protest. The far-right nutters turned up when it went dark so they could bash a few coppers / lefties. As usual, the media conveniently forget about the peaceful part of the protest, and sensationalize the shit out of everything.
Parents wanting to protect their children does not make them far-right. Turning up under the cover of darkness hoping to bash somebody does!!
The tragedy of this is we appear to have learnt nothing from the grooming gang scandals. Instead of tackling some dreadful cultural attitudes to women, we are closing our eyes again. I'm not suggesting that all immigrants are perverts, but it is blindingly obvious that they need somebody to supervise them and set them straight on what is acceptable behaviour in UK society.

Do the police still use provocateurs (police in plain clothes) at peaceful demonstrations they disapprove of? During Thatcher's time they did.
