Slammer was dragged into a fresh row with Labour's grassroots today as his party's bid to win back a key 'Red Wall' seat was plunged into chaos. An entire committee who had been slated to choose Labour's general election candidate in Bolton North East all quit with a furious attack on the party's leadership. It has seen Sir Keir accused of only wanting 'nodding dogs' and representatives of a London 'clique' to be Labour candidates. Bolton North East was snatched from Labour by the Conservatives at the 2019 election, with Tory MP Mark Logan holding the constituency by just 378 votes. It means it is a key target for Labour as they try to win back those seats they lost to the Tories in 2019 across their traditional 'Red Wall' strongholds.

The disgraced former MP Jared O’Mara “should never have been selected as a Labour candidate” and deserves his four-year jail sentence, the shadow chancellor has said. Rachel Reeves was talking to the Guardian in the Bolton North East constituency on Friday, hours after key figures in the local party quit in protest at how Labour’s national executive committee (NEC) was controlling the parliamentary selection process for the next general election. The entire selection committee in Bolton North East resigned after they were not allowed to choose the shortlist, an increasingly common practice in Keir Starmer’s Labour party, saying: “Yet again, it appears that the Labour party is seeking to promote the views and attitudes of a clique in London, rather than local members in the north.” They added: “This goes against the attitude necessary to win back the red wall, which is so desperately needed to deliver a Labour government.” Reeves said: “I don’t know what the circumstances are of what has happened in Bolton, but I do know that those being selected are strong candidates, often with very strong roots in their communities.” There has been particular unhappiness that Leigh Drennan, the chair of Labour North West and aide to the Jeremy Corbyn-supporting Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols, was not longlisted to try to win the seat back from the Conservatives, despite garnering nominations from four big trade unions.

To see what happens when labour control freakery is not resisted by local party officials, i suggest the following reading material en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_LawThe full details of both the politicking in the assembly and the stupidity that saw labour piss the 19,000 strong majority in the safest seat in wales up the wall, losing both the seat and the party majority in the assembly are laid bare. Excellent bedtime reading.

Excellent bedtime reading. A very interesting read JoG.... A couple of weeks before the election, my eldest then barely 16 and nervous about travelling was informed part of her course at Usk College had to be transferred to the Ebbw Vale campus owing to staff sickness. The railway to Newport has just been dug up (its still not back, typical welsh assembly twattery) so i took her to the bus station and showed her the route. While in town dozens, nay hundreds of people RAN up the main street past us. Wondering WTF i asked what was up and was told ‘Peter Law is Speaking in five minutes’ Not knowing a thing i rang a mate living locally who answered out of breath. He was running to Peter Laws speech that had been moved to a new location. We followed the crowd. It was like Billy Graham My grandmother once told me of the methodist revival in the wake of WW1 in the welsh valleys from which she came. She was in her teens at the time. What I saw on the street that day must have been a but like that. A crowd of hundreds gathered to hear one man fell silent as a chapel of sinners when he stood to speak. Law stood as an independent because the party rejected his candidacy And Labour lost the seat that sent Nye Bevan to create the NHS and would later send Michael Foot to destroy the party as it had obce been by driving the moderates to form the SDP. Law died of a brain tumour a few years later. His opponent on the election day was a woman no one had heard of. To shut her up Blair made her a life peer, i was told. In stark contrast my own constituency labour party took Blairs demand and gave us some Blair Babe who is a useless wankeress and a total bloody liar. I have never known a day like it.

linkThis is all too typical of Starmer's Labour party and part of the reason why so many people of principle have left
