Channel migrants are taking free busses to get to beaches under the noses of French gendarmes, it has emerged.
The migrants are using local free buses in Dunkirk and Calais to travel from their camps or accommodation to the beaches before walking to the sand dunes and hiding ready for the smugglers to bring their boats.
They were filmed taking the buses by an undercover BBC team posing as a migrant with a pregnant wife and two-year-old daughter with a charge of £2,800 to cross the Channel. The disclosure provoked fury in Britain. Dover MP Natalie Elphicke said it was “breathtaking.”
“I am raising this with the Home Secretary. It clearly needs to be addressed urgently,” she told the Telegraph.
Former minister Tim Loughton, a member of the Home Affairs Committee, said: “It seems that there is no pretence at keeping this vile criminal trade under the radar and the people traffickers are gaming the system in plain sight.
“If the French are serious about joining us to halt this illegal trade they should be taking every measure to disrupt their activities wherever possible not laying on a free bus service to the beach to make their business easier.”
Asked by The Telegraph about the free buses for migrants, General Frantz Tavart, in charge of around 150 gendarmes - including 90 paid for by the UK - said the priority was to destroy boats not stop migrants from taking free public transport.

If I were a religious man, I would be praying for a government who wasn't frightened of the poxy EU and was willing to put this country first. Wouldn't that make a refreshing change.
