The english arent celts.
Now there is no doubt whatsoever a celtic people lived in what is now England prior to something like 1600 years ago , with many towns cities and rivers for example in England having celtic place names , but the english people themselves historically were the enemies of the celts.
As you point out , they took the lands off the celts ( see the excavations at caister in east anglia where a romano celtic town was destroyed and the inabitants killed by saxon pirates) with many of the celts being slaughtered , enslaved or fleeing westward.
There are many theories of what happend to the celts in England , but the least likely is that any of them of any number survived. The main reason is the lack of celtic words in the old english language.
When differing groups pf people live together in he same areas , language is borrowed and two differeing languages like for example p celtic and old english would have become entwined with each other. Especially as english is known world wide as a borrowing language .
That never happened in southern britain , post 5th century ad , i nthe lands that were to become england. There was no interaction "linguistically" between celt and saxon.
When the danes took the danelaw , north and east england , danish interacted lingustically with old english , so that today 15 % of modern english is danish still.
When the normans took england , with something like an army of thirty thousand conquering an english popualtion of 4 million , the normans made up less than 1 % of englands popualtion , but changed the english language unrecognisably from old english , so much so modern english is of course half norman french.
So whatever your romantic views of "english celts" the fact remains the english people by and large do not consider themselves celts , their language and culture is not celtic , and of course , famously warred with the celts non stop for over a thousand years if not more.
The first king of england , athelstan , passed an ancient law forbidding the english from mating , or interacting with the filthy british ( celtic ) race , and it wouldnt be until the 19th century , as the english came to consider themselves the lords of these islands , that actually the term "british" began to have any meaning among the ordinary english.
Remember vinny ......celtic is a lingusitic and cultural definition......it is not nationalistic or blood and soil.
From possibly iceland in the west , over to turkey in the east , various countries and groups of peoples can lay claim to the word celtic. The reality is , the celts were merely the first europeans.............

But once upon a time, the land now known as England was occupied by the ancestors of the Scots.

Even caeser wrote about how the belgae tribes lived either side of the (modern english) channel , and further evidence has shown the connections between the celtic tribes of these islands and continental europe.

And I am a European, just not a supporter of the badly run European Union.

England is european .

The EU is not Europe, its citizenship is an empty title.
We are independent and not being in the EU isn't the cause of our financial issues, it's the Covid recession plus the war...
We're looking to the rest of the world and building new trade alliances.
We're already doing more trade with the USA (which also has Celts and Europeans in it).
Get over Brexit.
Brexit is the democratic will of the whole of the UK. 17.41 million UK voters to 16.1m voters voted leave.
You have no mandate for your silly anglophobic tantrums.

We are one continent , one homogenous people descended from the indo european tribes and our languages and cultures are all intertwined.
62 % of scots voted to remain in our european state .71 % currently back rejoin.
We are european citizens , and have no time for your silly anglo british seperatism. Its damaging both culturally , economicaly and politically .
We need to see the european flag flying from all of scotlands major towns and cities , and its time scottish soldiers joined a european army. Im even willing to trade my scottish birth certificate for a european certificate , and of course cant wait to get a new european passport.
