Left wingers love the EU, but are there any left wing policies from the EU that have come about over the last 30 years?
If so, what are those policies, and when did they come about ?

That's more capitalistic than socialist.

That's more capitalistic than socialist. Maybe . Capitalism comes in more flavours than that though. Capitalism can come with big government, small government or even laissez-faire small government. Socialism always come with big government. Lefties love big government.

If you look at the policies of that big government though, it promotes open markets, competition, an economic environment that favours privatisations.
All it takes as a next step is a single market for healthcare services, based on competition and lefties all over Europe will go into shock.

I don't care whether they're left or right wing - I just like their cool flag. By the way, would you consider the following to be 'lefties': John Major, Phillip Hammond, David Gauke, Rory Stewart, Nicholas Soames, Ken Clarke ...

Real left wingers are against the EU and always have been - it is just a bosses club intent ion reducing the rights of the working man.
Hence the only major UK political party to be against the EU was Labour when they were going through their socialist phase..

Hence the only major UK political party to be against the EU was Labour when they were going through their socialist phase.. This is true. Trade Unions though fell for the hype surrounding the EU protecting worker's rights and all that nonsense. But case in point - industries and certain sectors are suddenly striking more now for better pay. They can strike now knowing FoM will not undermine their rights and that cheap labour will not come in and take their jobs for less.
