So Truss throws Kwarteng under a bus in the hope that it will save her own skin. However, Tory MPs have imposed Hunt on her as the new chancellor and he will now be calling all the shots. The only reason Truss is still in number 10 is that Tory MPs can't work out a mechanism to get rid of her.
But Hunt (sometimes referred to by an alternative spelling) has form as a minister. Nadine Dorries acted as a sort of attack dog for Johnson and attacked Tory MPs who were critical of Bozo. I think she is still hoping that Bozo will get round to her. She inadvertently gave away the Tories stealth policy on the NHS when she claimed that Hunt did nothing to improve the NHS in his 6-year spell as Minister of Health. You have to ask why Hunt kept his job when he did nothing to improve the NHS. The answer can only be that he was carrying out the Tories stealth policy. You also have to ask why Dorries didn't say anything at the time. With Hunt's track record it seems unlikely that he will do anything to improve the UK economy either.
This whole almighty mess can be attributed to the Tory MPs who wanted Sunak as PM. They saw that Mordaunt was polling better than Sunak in a members poll. This is where they thought they were being clever, a lot of Mordaunt voters switched to Truss so she would be in the last two. They knew that Truss was an idiot and assumed that the members knew as well and would vote for Sunak. This is where their hair brained plan failed, the members voted for Truss because she wasn't the backstabbing Sunak. In other words, their stupid plan backfired disastrously.

It looks like the Tories are going to tell Truss to resign but they are the ones who put her in place by manipulating the vote. Truss should tell them to get stuffed and hang on as long as possible. Sure, they'll find a way to get rid of her, like they did with Bozo, but Truss shouldn't make it easy for them.

Tell her to fuck off or they are changing the rules. Nonetheless I wouldn't like to predict anything given we are talking about Tories here. They should get rid of her to save the party. But Tories are individual wankers that only think short term. Many would rather keep their cushy number for two years and get kicked out then than risk their seat with an early election. In that sense they might keep the deadwood in place Nd let country implode. But on the bight side, Moog, Coffey and Dorries are predicted to lose their seats so every cloud. |
