Really ? Ajax is German ? My former team of naval missile developers, who went to Siemens Plessey and developed the Finnish Air Traffic Management Information radar console when Ferranti fell, while I went to Project Manage the abortion and disaster that was the Flight Planning Console, and who from there transferred to the American / Canadian outfit General Dynamics who took over the British outfit Computing Devices I went to do the Tornado Low Level simulator for, now make fighting vehicles whose batteries are more dangerous than their ammunition. I wasn’t aware myself if German involvement in the design, if there had been, the things might actually have worked. Ajax is the name of the 'family of tanks' built in Spain. Rheinmetall are a German defence firm.

Why do we need tanks? We have a nuclear deterrent and a couple of brand new aircraft carriers. No one is crossing the channel with tanks. Oil is on the way out, we don't need to go to war in the ME to protect our oil supplies any more. Besides, the US can do that if necessary. All we need to do is keep the sea lanes clear for international trade which is why we have the Royal Navy.

Which we retook without a single tank. The Royal Navy and the infantry won the Falklands war.

FV101 Scorpion Tanks served in the Falklands War. More of an armoured reconnaissance vehicle than a tank. The Blues and Royals had a total of 4 of them and 4 Scimitars which had even smaller guns.

One of the few vehicles that could cross that terrain, no point in sending Chieftains there.
The 76mm gun was low velocity but quite powerful as it could fire HESH rounds.
The Rarden 30mm of the Scimitar, has a higher velocity than that of the M230 Chain Gun on the AH64 Apache.
It may only be 30mm but it can punch through most armour. Certainly enough to destroy anything the Kremlin has left to field.
