Why should it? Your country already dominates Scotland. Why should a question relating to Scotland be answered by the electorate of a foreign country? With eleven times the population of Scotland the vote would be skewed. And before the English Nats pile in about how the English would vote to throw Scotland out, the evidence says otherwise. The only time this has been tested was during the Referendum when English people voted 72% No to 29% YES.

The only time this has been tested was during the Referendum when English people voted 72% No to 29% YES. Quite so. Twenty-five years of surveys show that English support for Scottish independence has not risen above 26%. "The British Social Attitudes Survey has asked voters in England how Scotland should be governed, since the 1997 British Election Study. It has always found a plurality in favour of devolution, with majorities in favour between 1997 and 2003 and again between 2017 and 2021. Since 2011, when the Scottish National Party won a majority in the Scottish Parliament, there has always been one in five people in England in favour of Scottish independence."Year Polling organisation/client Independence Devolution No Parliament 2021 British Social Attitudes Survey 25% 54% 15% 2020 British Social Attitudes Survey 24% 54% 14% 2017 British Social Attitudes Survey 22% 55% 15% 2015 British Social Attitudes Survey 23% 49% 20% 2013 British Social Attitudes Survey 20% 49% 18% 2012 British Social Attitudes Survey 25% 43% 23% 2011 British Social Attitudes Survey 26% 44% 19% 2007 British Social Attitudes Survey 19% 48% 18% 2003 British Social Attitudes Survey 17% 58% 13% 2002 British Social Attitudes Survey 19% 52% 15% 2001 British Social Attitudes Survey 19% 60% 11% 2000 British Social Attitudes Survey 19% 52% 17% 1999 British Social Attitudes Survey 21% 57% 14% 1997 British Election Study 14% 55% 23% en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_on_Scottish_independence

You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that the English are keen to hang onto the Kilted Fringe or that your dour hatred of anyone that does not wear a frock is winning Scotland friends. I have conducted several straw polls and it is my belief that if the English were asked the Scots would be granted independence with a supply of Irn Bru and wooden spoons by way of a leaving present

Imo the English wouldn’t vote for Scot independence. I don’t think enough could care less about it to vote for it . English shoulder chips aren’t as heavy as Scottish ones.

Pretty much the latter.
Scotland already has its own legal and tax system, we would still buy their whiskey, they would still lose at the rugby and one way and another, I doubt that much would change.
