OK, good, that's one. (It's also the first result I can find on google when I google "Starmer retraction" - here is another retraction but it was only for calling Boris a "coward", but then Boris is a coward so....).

Starmer's record on honesty is indeed a dubious one. He is often given a free pass on this because people believe he is taking the party in the right direction, but he blatantly lied to his own members to get elected as leader. If he can lie to one group of voters to get elected he can lie to another.
A proven liar can only be judged on his past actions and positions, not on his words. That means, if you believe in Brexit, never trust him with it no matter what he says now. If you don't believe in Brexit he might well be your man - on that issue at least.

Starmers statement of the week, we need an election to stop revolving door politics, eh isn't that exactly why he wants an election so he can keep them up?

Politicians lie? I’m shocked 😳 oh well thats alright then. Lets vote keir in to perpetuate the problem of politicians lieing.
What could possibly go wrong in the uk if keir starmer gets elected on a promise not to rejoin the EU , and then reneges on it. Cant think what the reaction would be or subsequent meltdown in society.
Call me old fashioned , but i like the politicians that stand under a flag and call it as they see it. Tony blair and his worshippers typify all that is wrong with politics today. I always say the tories stab you from the front , and new labour put their arm around you and knife you in the back.

That’s a lot of assumptions from four ( or was it five ?) words. Imo politics is the art of lying . It’s like the old joke “ The key to success is sincerity. Once you can fake that , you’ve got it made “

I dont think the uk public can take another north london champagne kid on socialist knight of the realm fanny who appeals to no one outside of the southern english middle class suburbs.
Just as liz truss discovered you cant recreate thatcherism in the 21 st century , so are new labour going to realise however slowly you cant recreate blairism.

I reckon he needs to practice on the sincerity bit, as it is blatantly obvious, he isn't sincere about anything he is telling the public. Same old political bullshine.

I thought corbyn versus may was the low point , imagine my surprise when we wintessed the colossus of truss versus starmer ? the wooden versus the vacant.

I don’t think a working class base ,no nonsense,” soak the rich and renationalise utilities “ Labour Party would ever gain traction today. The Labour Party is all about identity politics and very little else imo. So the only place to go is a form of ‘ Blairism ‘. We will never get back to a pre Blair Labour Party .

We will never get back to a pre Blair Labour Party . well i disagree . for politics to work and reflect the electorate , it needs a modern voting system and not the two party fptp stitch up. You also need diverse parties reflecting the different shades of politics , not two parties offering the same shite with a fag papers width in difference of policy.
you highlight an important point though in terms of new labour. The fact is new labour no longer represent the old working class of scotland and england hence their decline in popualrity , and why they need the anti democratic help of the two party fptp stitich up to fall into power rather than popualr support of the voting public.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a differnt result is the sign of madness as they say. I reject blairsim utterly , and may i point out it was the blairites who lost scotland , not corbyn , and the blairites who sowed the seeds of labours destruction in the red wall.

Labour doesn’t represent the demographic that was known as ‘working class’ now , if it ever did. It represent the patronising metropolitan left wing view of white privilege( unless it affects them personally) , multiculturalism and identity politics. I don’t see a party that represents the ordinary person emerging no matter what the voting system. TBH I don’t see any politician understanding what the values of the old Labour Party actually was or should be . It’s as obsolete as the Whigs.
