The ruling GCP plans to charge car users to drive into Cambridge and have put up bollards etc to make driving difficult. This is happening in London too, though some authorities have rebelled and won. This is Tory driven to cope with climate change.
Today, Sunak flew to Leeds from London to Leeds for a photo shoot, by jet.
One rule for one, etc.
The Tory party are quite mad, and im a Tory. The chances of me voting blue are fucking zero. I had hopes for Sunak, not now, him and his shower have got to go. Even Labour would be better, id never thought id say that.

The make up of Cambridge council:
Cambridge City Council is currently controlled by the Labour party.
After the elections in May 2022, the Council consists of:
29 Labour councillors 9 Liberal Democrat councillors 3 Green Party councillors 1 independent councillor
Not sure how the Tories can be blamed for that, piglet?

It’s ACTUALLY a ‘fifteen minute neighbourhood’ directive enacted by the twats across the channel and enthusiastically picked up by Greta cultists uk wide. Coming to a street near you as soon as EV Range Anxiety fails to achieve the desired state that no serf can leave their masters demesne without their official permission save as part of an army recruited to die for the king

With respect to all, cars have effectively been banned in Cambridge for years. However, unlike London you can walk across Cambridge in about 20 minutes.

PS — however efficient and time saving it may be, travelling short distances by helicopter is not a good look for the PM and government people when they’re pushing green policies…

I confess it’s been 40 (no, 45) years since I was last there. I would say it’s unlikely I’d return after this time but they have a computer museum with multiple exhibits where I suspect I’m one of a very small group who still have both the instruction manual and a boot tape, so one day I’d like to take the grand daughter to show her what computers used to look like …

The council expects people to get on a bike, regardless of physical disability, weather, or age. Businesses will close. If you dont have a car, how can you get shopping home?, put it over handle bars? The main reason for this self harm is that car exhausts kill people, which they do not. The council can ignore that if you pay to come into Cambridge, or go out to come back in, which exposes it for the scam it is. There is a dutch roundabout built at enormous cost by the hospital with new lanes giving the cyclist right of way, so far its killed one cyclist. If your not familiar with it you do wonder what the mother is going on.
Thanks to the Tories, while Sunak lives it up on jets. Labour doesnt need much reason to make the electorate suffer over this, they are sadists. Strangely Andrew Browne the tory mp for sarf cambs opposes this. If this wins Cambridge will become a museum with bike racks and coffee shops, and nothing else.

Yes, but probably not for 30 miles.

Yes, but probably not for 30 miles. My Italian woman used the tube from Hampstead to Uxbridge, which took 30 minutes apparently. The trouble is we still needed a car to pick her up from the station.
What i reckon we will eventually see in the more advanced countries is you will get anywhere by train to within a couple of miles of where you are going , and then at the station you use a robo taxi. They are like driverless electric taxis.
I personally prefer trains for long distance. It can be quite relaxing. Cars make me feel sick.

Yes, but probably not for 30 miles. I rarely have time for Clarkson but before he punched a producer in order to make millions from Amazon he interviewed Chris Ecclestone in the ‘star in a not so fast car’ slot. The chat was interesting. Ecclestone has only just passed his driving test and then only for automatics. As an actor living in London who worked almost exclusively there or at the expense of film or tv companies he had no need to drive, he said This may explain why those of us not in that position of luxuriant expense accounts and diva oriented appearance riders are treated like shit by the elite However one thing he said stuck in my mind He said it would be possible for him to run the London marathon course starting at 8am on a Monday and finish LONG before clarkson driving the same course Clarkson never took him up on it Hammond, a year or so later, did challenge a chap known for long distance running, I forget who. The deal was to cover the course and the race would end at a cafe I believe near tower bridge The man on foot easily beat Hammond in his car Today Saddo Khan’t has imposed 20mph limits over most of his fiefdom which will make the walker even more likely to finish ahead of the motorist. If he survives the fumes caused by cars being driven in third gear
