Loads of comments in the comments section appear to be from those in academia. It does not look good in the sense the others are pretty much all in agreement with the OP. I've kind of known this for years, but having it all read out to you at least reassures me my feelings were not misjudged. I've seen papers with 20 or more names on. A lot of research papers are tedious and of low value. As are forum posts.

My post was to pull the thread back on track, your post is to pull the thread the other way. Stop doing it, because it is annoying. Lets talk about academia shall we.

I remember some tests made amongst university students many decades ago. A test was drawn up using a particular form of grammar which was then used to test set of Uni students. The same level of another test was drawn up using a different grammatical approach given to the same Uni students. The surprise result was that some students did well in the first test but not so well in the second test, while those who did not do so well in the first test did do well in the second test. Multiply that in every school throughout the country and we can see that something is amiss. Not sure that anything can be done about it.

The baron wants to bring this board into the realms of top university education so he can attempt to bamboozle us with things that don't interest us or that we learnt and forgot before he was born.

Andrew Szydlo was my son's chemistry teacher and according to my boy, the following lecture was unusual in that the explosions did not arrive until the end of the lecture

Sorry Chester but I'm glad he wasn't my chemistry teacher I found him thoroughly boring, perhaps because I knew his agenda. Like many kids who took chemistry and physics as a career subject I played around with making explosives on a small scale, it's part of learning. I and anyone I knew, never played around in public but took our weedkiller and other ingredients to places where they'd cause no problems; that was 70 years and more ago when the world was a different place. My first job was in the laboratory of a world renowned company but after five years, and nearing my final National Certificate exam, I quit and never went back. Most of what I learnt is long forgotten but you never lose the research ability whatever the subject and physics was, like maths, a subject involving much logic; did your boy enter the science world? I guess for the uninitiated your video is worthwhile

Different ways of describing things use different parts of the brain and each brain differs in how many neurons it has allocated to each area. Not only that but there is the factor of time to consider. Some take longer to think a problem through, as per they are meticulous in exploring every possibility and combination, where others take a guess that may be correct 70% of the time. The one-size-fits-all approach to education is holding us back.

The Baron is an expert at posting up videos to watch, how many have i watched?, none, i dont have the time, not that i would anyway. You cant post videos up, its lazy. The Baron or anybody should summarize whatever, point out anomalies or problems then open it up for everyone, and then suggest a video if desired.
I dont think the Baron gets anything he posts, he never then gives an opinion, hairs are split endlessly, and not about the subject.

I dont think the Baron gets anything he posts, he never then gives an opinion, hairs are split endlessly, and not about the subject. Consider my videos posted as curated content. It means I've watched them, they are accurate, intelligent and informative. Not only that but I always try and leave a summary of what the video is about so that I become trusted and not seen as a spammer. On occasions I will post a long rambling video if there is a bit of importance to it, and in these cases I will leave the link cued up to exactly this point.
If you still ignore them then that's your loss.

You are expected to write 5 papers a year. A PhD is one paper in three years.
You have to apply for grants. They take a long time to apply for as you have to give your scientific reasoning and write them in high quality to give them a chance of succeeding, where at best your chances are one in ten.
Universities are all about making money and that hinges on reputation which in turn hinges on factors like numbers of citations and other dumb metrics.
Those who succeed up the pay grade are those that play the system.

We must have gone to different universities.
During the time I was at Uni I doubt that any of my lecturers wrote so much as a postcard
