I suspect that nobody can produce evidence that he was honoured solely because he likes to wear dresses. Perhaps somebody could provide a list of other dress wearing men who have received an honour recently. Can we include kilts? Only if you concede there is nothing wrong with men wearing skirts. Trousers are a relatively new invention in the west after all.

The only reason we moved from wearing robes to pants in the first place was because we were following knights who had difficulty wearing the former on horseback. Since very few men ride horses these days I see no reason why fashion won't revert to frocks for men in the future.

Little black numbers or frilly ones? Individual choice. Grayson doesn’t wear a dress a la Fred Flintstone . He wears essentially girly ,frilly numbers and copious make up to go with it. He is making a statement not a fashion choice .He is deliberately trying to look like a woman. Not a man living in times before knights rode horses. To claim otherwise is a lame attempt at gaslighting. I have no doubt that his cross dressing statements stood him out from the crowd and I’m equally sure that he profited by it .

There is nothing inherently girly about make up either. There's a long history of men wearing war paint. Toffs painted their faces white throughout the 17th and 18th centuries and even wore wigs to go with it. Artists have often been outliers when it comes to their appearance.

Yes but Grayson doesn’t wear war paint or paints his face white to mimic a 17th century gent.

A cross dressing middle aged male artist wearing copious make up makes a splendid knight for our times . An antidote to the white middle aged Patriarchal trope . That’ll teach ‘em. Have found any evidence that he wears dresses that men wore before knights rode horses or that he wears war paint and whitens his face in the style of a 17th century gentlemen?

I doubt that his decision to wear frocks has anything to do with the history of menswear or the likelihood of being knighted. Nor do I think his choice of clothing has anything to do with the decision to honour him.

I doubt that it was a cunning plan but I suspect the authorities want to pander to left wing wokery . An antidote to the lie of a patriarchal society . knighthoods tend to be given to high profile individuals that the establishment want to embrace or invisible individuals that the establishment need to reward . Some exceptions but the rest seem to get lesser titles and honours.

If this decision is wokery then it is Conservative in nature since they are the current government.
