Cabinet standoff over anti-extremism scheme: Michael Gove 'clashes with Home Secretary Suella Braverman' over whether Prevent report should name high-risk groups. • Cabinet ministers at odds over publication of anti-extremism report, it emerges • Michael Gove and Suella Braverman reportedly disagree over review of Prevent • Levelling Up Secretary is said to be concerned at redaction of names of groups Cabinet ministers are at odds over whether groups blamed for spreading extremism in Britain should be named in a forthcoming report, it has emerged. Home Secretary Suella Braverman is said to be ready to publish a long-awaited independent review of the Government's anti-extremism programme and accept its recommendations for an overhaul. But Michael Gove, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Secretary, is reportedly unhappy with plans to redact the names of individuals and groups named in the report into the £40million Prevent scheme. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11579049/Michael-Gove-Suella-Braverman-odds-publication-anti-extremism-report.htmlThe left wing Home Office and it would seem, Braverman, want the names of extremist groups redacted. Hands up anyone who's surprised.

But I think we can probably guess which groups they are, don't you?

But I think we can probably guess which groups they are, don't you? Everyone knows exactly why the Home Office want to redact certain names words or groups, namely Muslim, Islam, Islamic, and Islamist. Those words according the Home Office must never ever be mentioned, perish the thought said groups may become offended and accuse the government of being racist, or Islamophobic, which as we all know is a non-word. I think it's pretty obvious who will win this particular row. As we have seen so many times in the past, anything that may put any minority in a less than positive light must at all costs be supressed. The public must not know the truth.

This is being discussed on GB News right now. Presenter Patrick Christys asked the TV/radio audience: ' Is the government frightened to publish the report in full because it names Muslim/Islamic groups?
PS, I was unaware that the last time this report was due to be published Muslim groups took out an injunction to prevent the government publishing it in full.

Worth reading the original Times article the DM is parroting (I believe you have a subscription) www.thetimes.co.uk/article/cabinet-row-holds-up-prevent-counterterrorism-review-r3mzjzkm2I'm now going to post something I thought I'd never post: Braverman is right on this Just identifying groups as islamic, Right Wing, Irish etc is surely sufficient. Naming specific groups can come later but as the Home Office apparently fears naming them now would lead to all sorts of distracting legal actions. What we need is Shawcross's main conclusions out there in the public domain. And Gove is being an arse anyway, this is not part of his cabinet brief but then he's never been much of a team player. Back to the Times article, this is an interesting extract from it

I buy The Times in hardcopy once a week or whenever we're in town, but I don't subscribe to any paper.
I listened to a discussion about this an hour or so ago on GB News. It seems right wing or non-Islamic groups are mentioned in the report, but the vast majority are Muslim/Islamist groups. And lets not forget, this report isn't a government report. It's an independent report commissioned by the government.
Last May Sir William Shawcross the report author, criticised the government over it's 'Prevent' strategy. He said and I quote:
...'The government’s counter-terrorism programme has been too focused on rightwing extremism and should now crack down on Islamist extremism'.
It seems the government wanted everyone to know they had commissioned an 'independent' report. But now they have the report they are not so keen on publishing it's findings.

The 'Prevent' strategy was established in 2007 as a part of the governments counter terrorism strategy to stop Muslims being radicalised, supporting terrorism and becoming terrorists. However, since 2007 the aims of Prevent have intentionally, or accidentally, slowly changed. Many people who are now flagged up as needing help and support to prevent radicalisation are in-fact school children who are reported by teachers who in their opinion show signs of right wing extremism. This is why Sir William Shawcross, the report author, said the government should concentrate on cracking down on Islamic extremism.

Fuck off, they are the Popular Front of Judea.
I have to say, it is a bit odd seeing Suella Braverman being labelled a leftie

I'm absolutely staggered that a conservative government are worried about publishing an 'independent' report in case it annoys Muslims. It's totally mind boggling what this country has become over he past 20 years. Sadly, Britain is broken. The best thing that could happen to the current conservative government is total collapse. Get rid of them. Start from scratch with a new centre right Conservative party who represent the vast majority, rather than every minority.
