These Union bosses will have a lot to answer for next year.
The Royal Mail will lose thousands of business and customers.
I've had emails from companies I use saying 'Dear Customer we will no longer be using the services of the Royal Mail'.
They wont expect our sympathy when tens of thousands are made redundant, well at least the Union bosses will still have good jobs and loads of dosh.

Even when the Royal Mail is working as it should the system is bloody abismal, and their tracking system is a fucking joke. You can see why companies are now favourig the lkes of parcel force and dpd etc.

My own post does not always reach its destination. I have very little faith in the reliability of royal mail. I don't know whether the reliability issues are worker error, management error, system error, or some combination thereof but its a fucking joke. I estimate that perhaps one in ten of everything I post never arrives. Yet it all has a first class stamp on it which costs nearly a quid now just for one. It seems that since privatisation - as is so often the case - prices have rocketed whilst service and reliability have plummeted. But that seems to be regarded as ok by the powers that be as long as someone is making money out of it.

Looks like the unions are using the Putin model to win . “ There could be a "rolling wave" of industrial action next year with unions coordinating strikes on the same day, the new general secretary of the TUC has said.” apple.news/AGaq1hQIGQICu8lEN3hDPlQ

Fortunately I get to work from home most days & the office is within walking distance.
So as long as I don’t need an ambulance, I’m one of the lucky ones!

My Son has not be able to get to work on three occasions luckily he is salaried, his wife my daughter in law has not been able to get to work on four occasions she is not salaried and has lost four days pay, they have two children to look after and a mortgage to pay, I’m not sure what your definition of salaried is but I’ve never had the luxury of an employer turning round and saying oh I see because such and such a strike means you can’t get to work I’ll pay your salary and you needn’t work…..

Wasn't the privatisation EU mandated? I suspect you are quite acquainted with the various EU directives 1990-2006 that lie behind the actions begun by Vince Cable and completed by Sajid Javid. It took me barely three google search results to garner the story so those who consider it not to be so, google is your friend. Meanwhile I invite you to have a laugh at the next search result, the rantings of the rabid left who seem to want to preach a slightly different gospel, and suggest the EU wanted nothing of the sort and we would be in a far worse state without their actions ! leftfootforward.org/2016/04/eu-law-helps-to-protect-our-postal-services/

Wasn't the privatisation EU mandated? No. It was a home grown political choice.

We dont need daily deliveries - one or two a week is sufficient and scrap the First Class stamp. Any important docs requiring delivery next day can go using the existing 24 hour tracked service.

We dont need daily deliveries - one or two a week is sufficient and scrap the First Class stamp. Any important docs requiring delivery next day can go using the existing 24 hour tracked service. It may survive and yes it may mean and need changes to working practises, which would probably result in another Strike Ballot , I do not use the Post much these days the odd birthday card and of course Christmas cards, the cost of postage stamps apparently will increase some claim it will cost £1 for a first class stamp. Some small businesses that use the PO will now be looking for alternative ways of sending goods or whatever to customers if at all possible. As for strikes affecting the general public, one of my grandsons aged 16 years has been down in Clacton spending Christmas with friends he needed to get back to North London for the New Year but due to the train strike, the train only went as far as Colchester, then try and get on the replacement bus service eventually he got back to the outskirts of London. He finally got on one of the very few and far between Tube train to get into central London, same problem trying to get to a tube station closer to his home eventually did and walked the rest, six and half hours it took him to travel 80 odd miles,
