Two different issues are transforming at the moment and it is only when we consider both that we can see Truss is a far better choice of leader than Johnson.
Firstly is the relationship between President Macron and Truss. Now my view with Macron is he's French, he is what they call centre-right and he is generally a popular politician in France and is a rather positive forward thinking chap, and a good choice of leader by the French. Then of course in recent times we have been ruled by Johnson, who apparently infuriated the EU leaders by making a comment comparing them to the Nazis, implying they were the modern form of that movement. It was the worst insult one could make and it single-handedly caused a breakdown in EU-UK relations. Johnson representing UK interests was like putting the devil in charge, where the devil works out the most divisive outrageous thing to cause fighting and eventual death. At this time the question was posed to Truss whether President Macron was a friend or not and the answer she gave was a rather cryptic "The jury is still out". Notice this was on 25th August and the new PM was decided on 2 September. The EU wondered if this was what they called 'continuation Johnson', but Truss did not continue Johnson at all here and made a point of meeting with President Macron as a priority, unlike her response to the SNP leader who had not even been contacted since she came to office! The outcome of this is it appears President Macron feels like he is in love. He's over the moon that the UK in this act buries the hatchet, and as he remarked, let this be a new day one in UK-French relations. I have to accept here that Truss has done us all a great favour and looks like she repaired the damage.
Now you may think this is all well and good, but what does it really mean in practice. In fact it is critical because President Macron is a doer and he wants to build a powerful coalition of all European states. He has 44 heads of state agreed to sign up to this new political group he has created, as per like an EU+ arrangement. See it as a set of concentric circles. You have the EU 27 states, but around that you have the Council of Europe which is 45 I think, and then around the lot are the worldwide bodies like the UN. The one we have joined here is one that includes the Nordic countries and Eastern European states that are not in the EU for one reason or another as well. The group is for the purpose of anything that pertains to the interests of Europe. As you can well imagine, if there is an issue affecting Europe then 44 nations who all agree has a lot more clout than 27, and especially because our good selves are in it too. We are still one of the world's largest economies and most powerful military.
So now we are back on friendly terms with Europe, thanks to Liz Truss, we may well ask what is the big deal - how does it affect us. Well this is to do with energy. Europe agreed to US demands to sanction Russia, even with some reluctance from Germany when it was also asked to supply arms to Ukraine. Recall Johnson spent 100% of his time promoting this war and our great friendship with Zelensky, the one time clown who because a proxy military dictator. It now transpires that it is not the case that it is a simple case of we help Ukraine fend off a Russian invasion. It is now the case the EU is under attack economically from the US and the US is making a fortune out of supplying energy. ExxonMobil's profits jumped from $4bn per quarter to $17 billion and at the same time the German gas company Uniper went bust and had to be nationalised at great government expense. Europe is not happy at all with the US but is too frightened to say so in public. The US has a lot of clout, being the world's largest oil producer, largest military power and the largest economy, but supposing it is pitted against 44 countries rather than a poxy 27.
This is President Macron's master plan and we are on board. No longer are we the little England with 44 countries together so it helps shield us from the financial speculators who are attacking the pound (and the Euro for that matter). If you really want to know the straw that broke the camel's back though between US and European leaders, it is that attack on their pipelines. There is a strong view that was a US terrorist attack against the EU and they are furious. Now the entire industry of Europe is under threat and we were on the side of the baddies. The French in particular were highly pissed off with that sub deal. They understood they had that one in the bag, but it was like stolen from them. This reneging on a deal is too much for the French and the populations of Europe are likely to destabilise and riot if the gas gets cut off this winter. Recall also it was President Macron who tried to broker a peace deal but it was blocked by the US and our enemy prime minister Johnson. Liz Truss had him as his boss so her hands and mouth were tied. Now President Macron and Liz Truss have made peace we will reap huge benefits. The Northern Ireland deal is looking better now and so is cross-channel control of immigration. Truss is duly awarded a BvL gold star for peace!

I couldn't get past the first paragraph if I'm honest. So many false assumptions being made only Jackanory could make up a piece of fiction that separated from reality. Macron is a self-aggrandising politician, yet you think he is a positive forward thinking chap. Ha. I wonder what Ukrainians would think of his "finlandisation" of their country towards Russia, never mind threatening to keep the UK locked into Theresa May's own 'Backstop' in perpetuity. I think you are deluded. However, if you can reasonably explain and justify paragraph one, I may read the rest of your sermon, but until then it seems a waste.

My view of President Macron is my own character assessment. If I were Liz Truss I'd feel I could do business with him. He's not an arsehole bum licker like Johnson. He's not the geriatric Nazi Biden is and he is not a glamour queen contestant like the Finish political system is. All in all he seems like a good choice by the French and of particular note is his keenness to diffuse bad situations. He wants to do business with our country and I would like our country to do business with France. I see it as an opening for us. Johnson just caused the international community to slam the door in our face. We now have to re-open for business or we will go bust.

Maybe you are on the wrong site. Maybe so, however I'm; a) keen to hear your explain the rationale behind paragraph one of your OP on this thread as requested by buccaneer , and; b) eager to learn about the methodology behind your 'Statistical Technique' as well as review the analysis you did using it on the BBC here Deconstructing BBC Broadcasting
Clearly you are one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable posters on this forum, so it wouldn't be fair to make a decision on the suitability of this site without waiting to see the wisdom you are capable of imparting. I appreciate you must be in high demand, and your time extremely precious, and that you may not therefore have had the time to deal with the two requests, however If you could let me know when you might get to both that would be very helpful.

Buccaneer and colbops, the baron is well known for long winded regurgitated blowsy nonsense. I could do my ironing while getting nowhere reading his posts. Leaving it after the first paragraph is a good policy, if you bother at all.

I've no doubt that before long Baron von Lotsov will post up the methodology behind his statistical technique along with a paper on the BBC utilising it, and you'll be eating those words.........

Meanwhile there have been important developments in this European situation regarding the US and Russia. It looks like Truss is going to look prudent in her move here with Macron. I'll let you read about it in a few months time though. Let it be a surprise eh?

I believe in you Baron. Post up the methodology for your statistical technique. It's to do with alignments of world power blocs. They are like tectonic plates. They can move around and you can get trouble if you live between them.
