Inheritance tax is double taxation and should be scrapped . However if we are going to have it it should only be applied to sold assets . If the farm /family silver/house is to stay in the family it should be able to do so without paying the taxman Ive listened to various labour spokespeople trying to defend it in recent days the best one is that £3M can be left tax free if its owned by a married couple ? Who makes this shit up , unless they both fall under the wheels of the tractor at the same time the farm will be left by one or the other of them . The other one is only a very small number of farms will be affected . What was the point of it then ? the richest landowners can be taxed in other ways if they are not farming the land . Labour will lose this one and the sooner they realise it the less pain they will suffer in the future . They are going to feel pain and lots of it regardless because they are idiots . are you for the wealthy using land for tax avoidance? How do farmers use the land for tax avoidance?

You didn't read my post with enough care Ttl "the richest landowners can be taxed in other ways if they are not farming the land" lets say for instance the church of england how will you tax them You are starting to miss the point overall. People in general do not mind paying tax when it works as regards to operate the country in some form of equitable fashion. It now seems that Labour will take 'the tough decisions' that effectively spell ruination for some Brits and cold cold winters for others in order to raise what is effectively small amounts of cash to service policies that are at best seriously unpopular and at worst spell disaster for the country. The tough decisions that needed to be taken were in the channel, in the hotels and in the workplace where immigration is overwhelming the country and creating division and antipathy that has already come to a partial head. This general malaise has been knocked on the head by the government with Draconian 'justice' and the subservience of the judiciary but it has not gone away and it seems like there is a determination on the part of government to exacerbate the problems at every turn. I see no logic in it but then perhaps there is not any.

Let's not forget, Stalin also deliberately destroyed food production. Of course, the left always think that they can keep a lid on the societal divisions that they create. Although history has shown that they can't.

We all pay tax on unearned income. __"The IRS considers the interest earned (on a Bank account is) taxable income, whether you keep the money in the account, transfer it to another account, or withdraw it. When the bank pays interest into your account during the tax year, you will owe taxes on it."-- It is in effect regarded as unearned income.

Its not a lie as far as Im concerned (there may be some instances where it could be) the vast majority of people who inherit do so due the earnings , savings and investments of their forefathers that have already been subject to a raft of taxes .

If parents put, lets say £8,000 into an off springs bank account, and they die within a certain time period, I think its within seven years of the gift, then the £8,000 gift will be included in the inheritance tax that is due on the estate.

Dose the Governments new inheritance tax on farmers . Stop a tax loophole? Clarkson told the Times in 2021 that avoiding inheritance tax was “the critical thing” in his decision to buy land - but said today that he had bought the land "to shoot". I think most of the farm land is owned by wealthy land owners and there only a few small land owners. Should these wealthy land owners avoid paying inheritance tax Clarkson makes a key statement which I think from personal experience is not quite the guided missile he makes it to be, but here it is If, Clarkson says, the aim is to close a tax loophole where wealthy individuals are investing in farming as a tax loophole, then surely the obvious thing to do is target individuals who have multiple income streams, as he does. Because the fact is as many are saying, the cost of buildings and machinery mean that few farms are worth less than a million pounds. Starmer says fewer than five hundred farms will be affect d each year. How many farms are there in Britain, and how many farmers die in a year. That is what he is not saying.

It was the case that dad could sink £1,000 pa into his grandkids accounts under their control (i.e they had to be over eight). He died in 2005 having shifted about £80,000 that way. But his house was only worth £230,000 then. These days it's more like £3000 in total

I think it's time for you to start thinking objectively. You don't see the parallels between Stalin's genocide of the small farm holder, and his ten year plans that starved the country with impossible crop types, and Starmer's destruction of family farming and rewinding and solar panel coverage. It's pretty bloody obvious to me
