Why is the Southport murderer covering his mouth?

Presumably the people behind this whole thing have told him to. What is it supposed to achieve though since cameras are not allowed in court, and it is only his mouth that he covers. I would like to suggest the reason for this is that it is part of the propaganda drive. The reason he covers his mouth has something to do with the fact the mouth is how we talk, so a covered mouth is a symbol saying I'm not or I can't say anything. It is reproduced all over the papers as an artistic impression, hence suggesting that it is the authorities which want people to see this for some reason or other. For him to spontaneously decide himself would be a strange action. It is rare to see someone normally behave in this way. If an image is syndicated across the entire press, one can be pretty confident it is there for a reason. It is to reinforce the one image in the minds of the prole. That is unless it is a secret Masonic sign only understood by the initiate. I favour the former explanation myself, but how about you.
